View Full Version : G75VX keyboard unresponsive after several minutes of playing pinball

My Asus G75VX has a weird problem.
The keyboard seems to stop working altogether after playing several minutes of pinball.
This uses the two Shifts on either side of the keyboard a lot as well as the spacebar.
The only solution seems to shut down the laptop and start it up again.

I've tried installing a clean version of Windows 8 (without most of the ASUS tools), but the problem remains.
It's not tied to a specific game, i've had it happen with VPinball (a pinball emulator), Pinball Arcade and also the older Pro Pinball games as well as Psycho Pinball under DOSBox.

This happens since i've owned the laptop.

Other games (like FPS, or simulations) which don't rely heavily on the shift keys have no problem. (I can play Bioshock Infinite or Minecraft all day and all is well).

Anyone has had this happen as well? Perhaps someone has a solution?

Maybe it is related with Windows feature called "Sticky Keys" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StickyKeys
After pushing "Shift" quickly 5 times in a row it turns on this option. To turn it off, go to Control Panel -> Accessibility options and just disable all of these options connected with Sticky Keys which are shown on these pictures:

Nope, unfortunately i've already turned that off. It really is a hardware problem, even ctrl-alt-del doesn't do anything after that anymore.
Only external devices (mouse or keyboard) do anything, the touchpad and keyboard are stuck.
