For more info regarding the competition you can click here: http://www.asusrog.com/rog%20experience%20round%202.html

Submissions for ROG and ASUS are stickied in the Desktop Overclocking section.

we can talk about the overclocking discussions here.

Discuss Case Mods here (http://www.asusrog.com/forums/showthread.php?502-ROG-Experience-Tour-Round-2-%28Discussion-thread-for-case-modding%29)

ill flat out say, there are a lot of loop holes if you are strategic enough, you can change the ambiet temp, have a ac blowing in the case, oc in the snow, use alternative materials for your case for weight.(carbon fiber panels, foam, cardboard, paper???? (remember weight may count but so do looks. you have to find the balance!!) BUT, one rule is, whatever is connected to the computer to make it turn on and run must be weighed in. that means all watercooling components, including radiator, psu, fans, HSF, screws, etc etc. (powercable is not factored in)

we must be able to hold on to the sides and not have everything fall apart.

so again, be strategic, there are many loop holes in how cut down weight, but it make affect the style, positive or negative. using paper as the side panels would definitely save a lot of weight, but it could look like :banana::banana::banana:. or who knows, maybe you did some crazy blizzard origami, i dunno be creative.. style is worth 500 points

we want to see this:
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs374.snc4/45693_1576833584317_1339929353_1501629_4497837_n.j pg

NOT this: (if this is your car, I'm sorry for offending you)

but you get what i mean... design has to make sense.

so whos gonna get in on this?

08-31-2010, 03:00 AM
We are modding our case to make it as light as possible? But make it look good? You didn't post an objective unless its elsewhere on the forum. Seems I'm a bit confused at the moment.

08-31-2010, 05:26 AM
I'm thinking about getting in on this.
I'm not very artistic, so any case I build would be kinda plain, but functional.

update OCZ has confirmed 2x OCZ Vertex Series SSD per team to the Blizzcon competition! WOOT WOOT!

09-15-2010, 09:00 PM
ok just upgraded to the Vertex 2 Series!

09-15-2010, 09:43 PM
Sweet! I noticed no ones posting that they are in!?!? I guess they're doing the sneak attack!:)

09-15-2010, 11:08 PM
they are in, i just havent confirmed what the prizes are.

09-16-2010, 12:59 AM
Sweet so who's in on this????

09-16-2010, 03:31 AM
I have a couple questions about the competition.

I read that the winning systems will be used to compete at Blizzcon.
What benches are these systems going to be required to run at the live competition ?
It will make a difference as to what components are built into them.
Will they be allowed to upgrade components for the live comp ?

I also read that cases are to be created. Does this mean they have to be built from
scratch, or does a purchased, modded case qualify ?

These are a couple questions that have crossed my mind.

09-16-2010, 03:54 AM
As for cases any case is good as long as it has five sides you can leave off one panel. But remeber weight and style are factors! As for programs at blizz not sure I was wondering same thing!?!??

09-21-2010, 01:19 AM
Intel has just confirmed that they will be providing 4 980X CPU to the prize pool! WOOT WOOT

09-21-2010, 04:27 AM
Sweet! My build is complete there's a peek in rampage 3 gene up and running thread!! :)

09-22-2010, 01:25 AM
Corsair has just confirmed on 4x Dominator GT 6GB memory kits! NOT only that but they have also sponsored 3rd place ROG winners with a Corsair 800D Case and 2nd place ASUS winners with a Corsair 600T Case!

09-22-2010, 02:44 AM
It looks like an awesome prize package, Brian.

Something that should have been implemented is bonus points for leading the standings
during the submission period. It would have got people moving faster to submit entries.

There would be no sandbagging scores or waiting til the end to submit entries.

It could still be done, you would just have to set a date and time for initial submissions, or the bonus points to start accumulating.

It would add a lot of excitement to the contest.

09-22-2010, 05:43 AM
I agree with goat, that's why I haven't posted nothing because it seems like everyones holding back till the end. O well I'll post my weight and style hopefully this weekend....still having trouble breaking 5ghz on benching (noob to oc'ing) we'll see what happens maybe I'll pull a rabbit out of the hat! lol :)

Also thanks again goat but I couldn't get past 182x27

09-24-2010, 10:10 PM
we did something similar for round 1. ill give out some goodies next week to help get users to post. or maybe do a raffle of some sort.

09-24-2010, 11:03 PM
Motivation! Nice

09-30-2010, 10:58 PM
We finally got the Antec 1200 watt True power quattro confirmed to the prize pool!

09-30-2010, 11:33 PM
It gets better and better! :) hopefully now that I have posted partial submission that will motivate some people into posting instead of bagging at the end. You can always change your submission.....:)

10-01-2010, 12:26 AM
HEY GUYS! We will be raffling off ASUS Lamborghini Murcielago USB Thumb Drives to 2 lucky winner each day! (1 for ROG Submissions, 1 for ASUS Submissions). All you need to do is submit an entry for the ROG or ASUS category. The earlier you post, the more chances you have to win as your submission will carry through to the next day! these raffles will go on til October 8th!

Murcielago usually costs about $300k with over 600HP!

10-01-2010, 12:53 AM
Sweet! i always wanted a Lamborghini!:) does this mean if no one else posts this week I win win win!!! lol

10-01-2010, 02:29 AM
this is great...this usb looks awesome with its speed!! i would like it really :) :)

10-01-2010, 04:45 PM
Hey Brian, when are you going to put that lambo on the dyno?

10-01-2010, 05:46 PM
Hey Brian so do I qualify for the lambo??

10-01-2010, 05:59 PM

10-01-2010, 06:28 PM
Nice! I see ranking have been updated!

10-01-2010, 09:15 PM
Here's to all the sand baggers--

Worst case- you wait till last minute and ROG forum server crashes! lol then what??? At least if you post now or soon you have something on file.

Food for thought!! :)

10-01-2010, 11:45 PM
Yes the lights turn on and blink. LED (HID)

10-03-2010, 05:27 PM
When we reg with hwbot are we supposed to join asus rog team??

10-04-2010, 03:37 AM
Hey Pcjunkie,

From what I read in the rules, the ROG forum and HWBot nicks have to match. No need to join the team.

- Ton

10-04-2010, 04:51 AM
thanks Ton! ya i read that and then i saw where it asks you what team so just for sh... and giggles i looked for asus and there are two one is ROG so i joined that one, what the hey right!?!

10-04-2010, 05:45 PM
If all goes well.. my rig should be done tonight :) Then have to focus on Benching for the next few days !! :D I really want that Lambo :)

- Ton

10-04-2010, 07:04 PM
you can join the asus republic of gamers team if you want but not required. it would be great to build the hwbot team anyways

10-04-2010, 08:36 PM
Sounds good and posershadow and I have teamed up.FYI

10-04-2010, 11:56 PM
thanks Ton! ya i read that and then i saw where it asks you what team so just for sh... and giggles i looked for asus and there are two one is ROG so i joined that one, what the hey right!?!

I don't see you on the team roster, PCJ.

Are you sure you joined the right team ?

I went looking for your SuperPi sub, but it's not there either ! LOL

10-05-2010, 01:34 AM
I am pretty sure it said republic of gamers.... And I haven't submitted spi score yet still working! Ya I joined the rog team I checked, but your right I am not on the main team page maybe I have to submit something first.

10-05-2010, 05:33 PM
Well I'm not having to much luck with my GENE I can't seem to get past 4.7 which is like a mid 9 on super pi. I've exhausted all my options I must be doing something wrong. :(

10-05-2010, 06:04 PM

Hey.. look on the bright side. SuperPi is just one facet of the tri-fecta. You should post your submission. At this point, look like just having all 3 component will put you in a good spot.

Our of curiosity, what chip are you running? From what I saw on your rig video, you have plenty of cooling to go around.

Right now I am rushing to get the 3 parts up by tomorrow. Don't want to wait till the last momemnt.. the Internet could crash :P

- Ton

10-05-2010, 07:19 PM

Wow.. 980 and great temps. I really have my work cut out :)

It coudl be SOOO many things hindering you. From a bad setting, to potentially a bad chip :(

All you need is Time to figure out what is happening. Well.. you got about 72 hours :)

10-07-2010, 06:34 PM
Noon tomorrow. Pacific time

10-07-2010, 08:30 PM

PCJunkie did a video.. is that neccarry? I mean.. are photos adequate?

I will be posting my stuff later today :D

- Ton

10-07-2010, 09:17 PM
Video Is required if you use analog scale. If u use digital then pics are good

10-07-2010, 10:02 PM
Hey PCJunkie.. thanks for the clarification. I have shakey video camera hands :) Going to do photos of the weight tonight.

Where is eveyrone post?? We probably have crazy numbers of Ninja and Snipers going to post at 11:59:59AM tomorrow.

- Ton

10-07-2010, 10:49 PM
Any time Ton and lol to ninjas and sniper. ... And remember detail scale you can take snap shots any doubts it's on main tourny page the link under submission

Everybody must be waiting till last minute to drop to bomb, which sucks because we can't even get an idea what were up against. O well we'll find out tomorrow.

10-07-2010, 10:58 PM
we can't even get an idea what were up against. .

umm.. what about your spi score ;) havne't seen that posted yet :)

My spi score will come up shortly.. need to submit it to hwbot first.

- Ton

10-07-2010, 11:05 PM
It will be posted soon as I get new weight or soon after..... I jumped off the deep end and shared my style and weight so I won't be suprized if someone builds better than my box. Since I diclosed that info.

Hey Brian what happened to raffle?

10-08-2010, 04:55 PM
good job everybody....

my case arrived yesterday....poor case..got a hack job

....my workmanship sucks on it though..i thought i can do skeletor...no walls ..but i didn't realize that...so i tape the voids :D

i love my m3g....:D

10-08-2010, 08:29 PM
So with Honda out of it, it looks like Titon, PCJunkie209 then us. When will we see the official rankings?

10-08-2010, 08:56 PM
why am i out?

10-08-2010, 09:42 PM
I thought you dropped out Honda, misread. That puts you above us in SuperPI.

10-08-2010, 10:42 PM
I thought the same thing since there wasn't 5 sides. Also your SPI screenshot doesnt meet the rules as well as you actually have to set the background to the ROG background and you are not showing that it was benched on an ASUS motherboard.

10-09-2010, 12:27 AM
ALL RIGHT GUYS!! Submissions are in, points are in, and the scores are up: http://www.asusrog.com/Tournament%20ranking.html

all submissions can be found here:

ROG category:
TiTon took first place with the fastest Super Pi 1M run at 8 seconds flat, second place in weight with 10.82 lbs, 1st place in style. TiTon had a very unique case in the cut out of the ROG logo. At first glance you can tell it turns your head for attention. Kind of reminded me of a Case Appeal AV8. Never knew the ROG logo looked so good. We liked the custom tubing for the corsair cooler, but would have liked to see red liquid to match the overall system. Liked the great choice in parts used for the color scheme. Even after adding foam, the white is still part of the ROG's logo. Would have liked to see the lower foam to be black, but its still nice. Very well engineered and crafted.

PCJunkie209 and Posershadow took second place in Super Pi 1M with 8.156 seconds, third place in weight at 15.3lbs, and third place in style. Very clean setup and built from the ground up. I like how They used a PCI Card and were able to show off the Southbridge design. spacious and clean. Almost makes you think, wheres the VGA? How is it running? I would have preferred to see red liquid to match the overall system though. Nice choice of the smoked acrylic.
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs789.snc4/66912_1635840539454_1339929353_1628668_3875211_n.j pg

69_Goat originally took second place in the Super Pi run (8.097) but because of late submission (we warned everyone!!) he was DQed, Second place in weight at 12.95 lbs, second place in style. 69_Goat did some great renders of the case he wanted to build and he built just that! kind of reminded me of a barn afterwards but nevertheless, it was very unique and clean. minus the EVGA card... shoulda went ASUS! Would have liked to see a bit more of the board though.
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs769.snc4/66912_1635840499453_1339929353_1628667_5474818_n.j pg

Utnorris and Beifei took third place with a super pi score of 8.502, fifth place in weight at 18.9lbs but DQed because of late legible submission, and 4th place in style. Overall this was a very clean case, great use of parts, loved to see the carbon face of an ASUS VGA, loved the tubing color, nice sleeves, and clean cable managment but in the end the custom cases took the lead.
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs769.snc4/66912_1635840579455_1339929353_1628669_3047856_n.j pg

Hondacity had a DQed HWBOT submission for not having the proper screenshots, weight took first place at 9lbs!!!, but sadly the case was subpar compared to the rest of the crowd.
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs391.ash2/66912_1635840619456_1339929353_1628670_6175070_n.j pg

ASUS Category:
OregonSlacker took first place in Super Pi at 10.180, second place in weight at 45lbs, and first place in style. He had a very clean case, clean cable management, and an awesome ROG Matrix VGA Card. Time to upgrade that ASUS board and get an Rampage III formula!
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs395.ash2/67362_1635840379450_1339929353_1628666_2626357_n.j pg

Tuff58 came in second place for his superpi run at 13.019, first place with his antec skeleton at 23.02, and second place with style. It would have been nice to see some cable management to clean things up a bit.
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs789.snc4/66912_1635840659457_1339929353_1628671_3565282_n.j pg

You all did an AWESOME JOB! Everyone that submitted an entry, we will send you a goody bag with a Lambo USB Thumb Drive along with an ROG shirt, ROG mug, ROG mousepad, ROG poster.

TiTon and his partner, PCjunkie and Posershadow will now advance to compete at Blizzcon 2010!!! 69_Goat has taken third place and won a Corsair 800D case!

Job well done to Hondacity, UTNorris, and BeiFei!

10-09-2010, 02:37 AM
congrats everybody...

and as for speculating that i didn't use m3g..... i do honest benchmarks.

10-09-2010, 03:00 AM
i know you do honda, i am just trying to stick to the rules and be fair to all

10-09-2010, 11:12 AM
So I have been going back and forth with Brian on this and this is nothing against 69goat, but I am definitely not happy about this. For the record, I never agreed to allow his team back in after they missed the deadline if it meant that it would bump one of the top three to fourth, which it did, my team. I also cannot believe PCJunkiie and his teammate are happy about this since it puts their position in jeopardy. Titon posted a solution which I took as it would not effect the "winning" positions and would place 69goat as an alternative if someone could not make the finals, that's what I agreed too. I am also being told that I am the only one that has any issues with this, then so be it. Although, again, I cannot believe that PCjunkie does not have an issue with this when he had an issue with Titon's case. Either way my team went from winning something to winning nothing due to something I never agreed too. This is the second Asus competition I have been in and the second time I am being screwed because the rules were changed at the last minute. We had rules that everyone agreed too by participating in the contest and I never agreed to have those changed if it meant the outcome of the contest would be changed. We worked just as hard as everyone else and did not wait till the last minute to post and we are now being penalized for it. While no one will probably care, I will not participate in another Asus contest again. It has nothing to do with the "Honorable" thing either Brian, it has to do with the rules being followed and what I agreed too.

10-09-2010, 04:28 PM
there were 3 goals for this comp....

sp1m .... gotta tweak a little and push the cpu
weight class.... trim trim or use technique
style....gotta look appealing

i think i've done good on the first two... sorta depressing that i didn't get 2nd or 3rd... will that stop me from joining asus's next great big contest? hell no

with mod contests and overclocking...you gotta push it to the limit to win. Titon deserves it and so does everybody else.

Foster the Fever - Team OCA

10-10-2010, 12:00 AM
Well, if it makes you feel better Honda, we got DQ'd also for not submitting a weight pic at high res so no one could read it. It looks like they will look at my team, your team and goats and determine the third place from what was submitted, which should mean either you or Goat will still pick up third place. Now, just to let you know, I was not the only one pissed about the way this all went down, since we were not the only ones affected by the decision. At least with this latest decision PCjunkie and his team mate get second place free and clear. I have no problem placing 4th, 5th, 6th or whatever in a contest, so long as it isn't because the rules were changed at the last minute, which is what happened. You may not agree with me, but till you are in my position of having it happen twice in a row from the same manufacture, I doubt you can understand where I am coming from.

10-10-2010, 12:45 AM
hey guys, alright, we have looked over submissions again and we will go back to the original rules. if you did not submit on time or if your submissions were invalid, it will be automatically DQed.
69_Goat - your benchmark submission was delayed. this category will be DQed.
HondaCity-your benchmark submission did not pass hwbot rules and did not have the proper apps open. this category will be DQed.
UTnorris- your weight submission was not legible with no text of weight added. official text weight was submitted at 1:04 and high res pic at 2:20 This category will be DQed.

everyone's qualified scores will still remain. PCjunkie and posershadow has taken 2nd place. the rest will be calculated when i get home. if there is a tie for third place, youll duke it out in a Spi 32m shootout. hope this clears up any drama and putting everything back into the fair scope.

10-10-2010, 12:47 AM
hey guys, from here on out, we will always honor the system and not give leeway to anyone for future contests. just so stuff like this does not happen again. hope we are all fair and good! YOU GUYS ALL COMPETED HONORABLY AND WELL!!! CONGRATS!

10-10-2010, 06:50 AM
results updated on page 7 and the score board

10-10-2010, 07:08 AM
so whats up TITON are you and your partner buying me and posershadow lunch since you took first???:)

CONGRATS to everyone for a good comp. i know things got kinda stressful there for a while.

10-10-2010, 07:44 AM
LOL!!!! I might just do that!:)

10-10-2010, 06:06 PM
Congrats TiTON for taking the top spot. Well done.
Outstanding build. When you first posted it, I went WTH, then the judges deemed it qualified, that was all I needed to hear.
It is very similar to my original concept for my case, btw. (Stay outta my head, dude! LOL)

PCJunkie, man, go buy a lottery ticket. You are on a roll, buddy.
It was just a matter of minutes or seconds, that cost me that spot.
Your good fortune or my bad luck, either way, I glad you're going to the show. Enjoy it.
If you need anything, hit me up with an e-mail. We'll see if we can level the playing field for the live comp.
Congrats on the wins here and at Lanfest. WOOT!!

To the rest of the competitors, I'm glad I decided to participate in this comp, and go head to head with you guys. There were some interesting strategies employed here, some sacrificing style for weight or sacrificing weight for style.

Another great contest, Brian. I especially liked the multi facet format (Style, Weight, Performance).
Really made it a challenge. I have some suggestions for future contests, while they may not eliminate the drama and complaints; they should reduce the amount of stress and crap you have to put up with. I'll send you a PM.

Thanks to all the sponsors for this contest. There really is a great bunch of prizes up for grabs.

I'm looking forward to the next contest and hope to compete against some of you again.

10-10-2010, 06:52 PM
Thanks goat! Well put! U know I'll be hitting u up!:) your helped me here in Sac

11-04-2010, 10:22 PM
just a FYI, we are out of posters, so we wont be including these in the swag bag sorry

08-23-2011, 03:18 PM
I know this is an old thread... but this is what I love about this bar.

Get drunk on the ROG of the day..spit, cuss roll around on the floor,
come up grin'n and shak'n hands, brush each other off....cya again sometime..stay well.
Top dogs always nip and growl at each other...but when they stand in a pack, shoulder to shoulder.... MSI who?
