easy there whitepaw:p your memory looks a bit stressd, maybe you should relaxt the timings a bit!
or wait til after the challence to speed things up...

GoosNL
05-20-2014, 08:25 PM
i'm trying the sqeeze some more out of my memory but it does not like it...
closer timings are a no go, more mhz are a no go to....

i'm prety mush at the max of my system. realbench score
image editing 151900
encoding 88000 (???) normally around 85000
opencl 57379
heavy multi threading 78000

but there all idividual test, when trying to compleet a full test BSOD! with code 101 (but the voltage does not go's higher)

i'll try it later this week again!

You should be able to get higher clocks out of those trident X. They usually like higher clocks rather than tight timings. Have you tried the preset samsung profiles in bios? You need to bump the Vdimm a bit they scale well with voltage. I've put +1.8V through mine many times for benching.

Try XMP timings but set it to 2666Mhz and Vdimm 1,75V.

i'll give it a try with the processor at stock speed, see if that makes a change.

And on samsung mem you can run tWCL 6, most other mem won't go that low.

I don't have a haswell but on Sandy/Ivy you need to bump VCCSA and VTTDRR. I'm sure Paw can help out with which voltages do what on Haswell.

twisted1

With a few powerful gpu's you'll boost that score pretty good. You can mix cards if you have say a 6950 laying around, will work fine :)

Rockford
05-21-2014, 11:00 PM

Rockford

yes, who knows.. Matrix can pop when you least expect it.. ;o)

90k should not be a problem with 4670K and 1 X GPU

twisted1
05-21-2014, 11:27 PM
Should be doable, you're only at 4,8Ghz. I'm impressed how much haswell has improved, i only got 88k with my 2700k HT on @5300Mhz. The openCL score was screwed up but still!

Rockford
05-21-2014, 11:31 PM
4800mhz ? thats only half the story.. ;o), its 2 more cores in there

Haswell is very fast, and extremely stable, compared to Sandy/Ivy

twisted1
05-21-2014, 11:41 PM
this is the same chip i have had all along, first it didnt want to do 4700mhz, now its faster.. does 50,50,48,48

They are never good out of the box, you need to make em good.. ease them up

And nice to see the IMC finally working, if you get another chip I'm sure you'll get a better IMC. I thought they all did +3000Mhz easy with good ram.

Rockford
05-21-2014, 11:47 PM

yep still here, was very busy the last few days.

your new score! that's nice!!! anymore tweaking left for yet an higher score?
my score is almost maxed out. my cpu wont go further than 4700, i stript down windows as far as i could
that leaves the memory. but besides the xmp setting i'm not getting anywhere. it won't run tighter nor faster...
but i have to look in to that. i have little experience besides raising the voltage and adding more speed.

only way is to bump up the cpu speed, its only a waste of time otherwise, its small marginals as it is..

i know, cpu frequency is the best way to improve the score. but all little bit's help to!
And it's my only decent working computer so i do not like to blow someting up.

also i just pend my money on a suit for my wedding.... so no money for new computer parts :p

BUT i might give it a try this weekend just for fun, maybe i can win somthing somewhere...
that's the annoying thing about benchmarking, there is always the feeling of "i want to do better"!!!!!

Rockford
05-22-2014, 06:38 PM
dont think like that..

Give it what you got, that is what counts, if you score is the best (its simply a bonus)

Both our scores are extremely good.. so

I use a very sophisticated water cooling, so i have an advantage..

My cpu at 1,54v ( 4950mhz ) dont go above 48c-50c at max load, so thats how i can run a 400mhz OC on the 7970 (higher also, but i am out of voltage up there)

It's a good thing that you want to do better :)

And don't forget, it's all about having fun. Taking part in challenges/competitions is probably the best way to learn benching, and we all share tweaks and try to help one another to get better scores :)

jep! and that for a 4 core system:D
when first starting realbech i set the goal of +80000! well you know the awnser...:D
the last 5000 points are just software teaks.
And i used coollabratory between my cpu/ihs en ihs/h100 that works super!
but stil i need 1,52 volt for 4700mhz! max temp is 65 ~70 (depending on room temps)

my gtz780 will go at max 1267mhz (just need to by a POD so i can increase some more Vcore)

My RB tweaks..

0. A win in very good working order
1. Boot up in diagnostic mode
2. Set screen res at 800X600 ( you can also flip the monitor to portrait instead of landscape), if there are any gains, i dunno..
3. Set RB priority in task manager to realtime
4. Run RB 1 time, the second time you run RB the encoding score gets higher (dont close the app between the runs)

sometimes run 1 can yield better, than run no 2, and sometimes not

Disable speedstep, and all power saving options in bios (cache/core). and all the stuff you dont need /a top fuel dragster dont got any fuel saving features..

You can also start, and stop the RB, within the first 5 sec a couple of times (then let it go), to gain some points in the image editing score/ milking

sufficient voltage for both mem and cpu, too low voltage and points will drop (especially mem)
instability = score will drop (gpu/cpu/mem)

Thats it, keep tweaking folks..:D cooling is essential in all forms of benchmarking (no shortcuts)

Yes, that is exactly what i do! only i'm now testing win 8 vs win 7 to see if it get better or worse.
win 8 is more consistend for me, but lower. i end up with 81500
