Samsung is releasing their new XP941 M.2 PCIe x4 drives, and they are awesomely fast!

1170MB/sec READ and 970MB/s WRITE - in single SSD mode!! Released capacities => 128GB / 256GB / 512GB

Unfortunately, these are M.2 PCIe x4 and not M.2 SATA, which is what we have in the G750JH/JZ/JS :(

Here is what the new Samsung M.2 PCIe x4 XP941 connector edge notches look like.

It's too bad these are M.2 PCIe x4 and not M.2 SATA compatible. It looks like it would fit in our M.2 SATA sockets. Compare against photo of the empty M.2 SATA socket in my G750JH. the cutout / notching in the Samsung M.2 PCIe x4 XP941 looks more compatible than the notching of the M.2 SATA that came with the JH.

It's nice to see that in a future Laptop or Desktop motherboard we can get PCIe x4 speeds in the small NGFF M.2 form factor :)

Available from Amazon, and the single comment says he bought the wrong part...

There is a PM851 M.2 SATA SSD from Samsung, listed here, but I can't find the PM851 M.2 SATA version for sale anywhere yet - even though it says in the details for each capacity that it's Production Status is Mass Production... they must be piling up somewhere :)

Look for the PM851 M.2 SATA versions in the list here, in 128GB / 256GB / 512GB capacities.

Thank you for your research and info. I too am looking to upgrade my G750JHA to a larger drive.

saturn95, until and if Samsung releases the Evo series on M.2 SATA, the Crucial M550 looks like the best available as a replacement for the M.2 SATA in the G750. There is also a 512GB available. It looks too long to use the retaining screw hole in the RAID0 card, but another user that installed the previous 480GB said he used tape to hold the end down.

saturn95, I think for a 2 x 512GB RAID0 I would be happy with a little strip of tape holding the ends down :)

I haven't seen the JZ 256GB x 2 installation, perhaps that RAID0 card has socket spacing that fits a larger M.2 card. But as for the JH, I don't think a larger capacity card is going to come out in the same length as the 128GB Samsung, so to have a larger capacity solution we may have no choice but to fit a longer card.

saturn95, be careful, that isn't compatible with the G750 RAID0 - we need M.2 *SATA*, not *PCIe* - those are different incompatible interfaces - I haven't seen the Samsung M.2 SATA parts yet.

None of the M.2 boards on that site are compatible, they are all PCIe: (update: there are now new M.2 SATA)

If you follow the original links I gave above, they go to the PM851 pages, my post had a typo, which I have fixed, thanks!

Be careful, the PM851 mSATA versions are shipping and for sale, but are not the M.2 SATA version.

Here is the mSATA PM851 on Amazon, but there are no M.2 SATA versions.
