hello, I tell them, I buy the G750jx with 32gb ram for vfx / postproduction, the machine is doing very well but I have some doubts that the Asus tech support did not answer me satisfactorily. I think the level of the people of this forum is very good, and certainly can guide me better.
Im not very happy with the monitor calibration setting, not even nvidia or windows application, I also like that I got with the X-Rite i1Display Pro
Also I am in search of win 7 drivers, and I am also evaluating the possibility of installing OSX in dual boot.

Thank you very much in advance for the help
Greetings!

PS: sorry for my English

First, welcome to the forum! Lots of extremely smart, helpful people here. Also, if you just use the search function you would find that there are already threads about all three of these topics if you want to read about them.

DGPost, if I understand, you were able to use X-Rite i1Display Pro to correct the color balance on the JX to your satisfaction? If so, please upload the ICC profiles you created, I am sure others would be happy to try them :)

loomitz posted his ICC profiles a while back, for the Chi Mei display, many G750's have the Chi Mei display, or the AUO display. Here is the thread with the ICC profiles discussions, and a second link to my post where I re-uploaded the ICC profiles - the original upload links had stopped working.

I don't recommend Windows 7 for the G750, it isn't a supported OS, and there is no driver support from Asus. While Windows 8/8.1 change the user interface, you can install tools to bring back the Windows Start Menu and Gadgets, to make the transition easier.

If you come across software that won't run on Windows 8.1, likely as not there is a compatibility setting that will help, google for it for your app. If that won't work, you can use Virtualbox, VMware Player, and Hyper-V to run an instance of Windows 7 hosted on your Windows 8.1 install.

If you haven't upgraded to Windows 8.1, take the time to download all the updated drivers / apps for the G750 from the new G750JM download area for your hardware - check against what you already have installed in Programs and Features against the new versions, and download and install them.

Then use Windows update to complete Windows 8.0 updates, then go to the Windows Store to do the WIndows 8.1 upgrade, then back to Windows Update to complete all the Windows 8.1 updates. That will get you updated fully.

Then if you miss Windows 7 Start menu, and gadgets, like I do, I use these apps to bring back those features.

Here is a list of the download areas I recommend to frequent for new updates from Asus:

G750 support areas:
http://support.asus.com/Search.aspx?SLanguage=en&keyword=g750&ps=10&pn=1

Here is the latest Realtek driver package Version V6.0.1.7224

Here are the latest Bluetooth drivers
http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Bluetooth&p=3&ft=27&os=30

Here are the latest WLAN drivers
http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=WLAN&os=30

Although I would download from Nvidia and Intel directly, to get the latest drivers, BETA's too, it is nice to know where Asus keeps them

I don't recommend installing OSX either, besides being against the wishes of Apple to have their intellectual property appropriated for use on a non-Apple platform, giving a less than Apple-like user experience, it is a huge time suck for a not so satisfying OSX experience. Save up and get a Macintosh, a Mini is a nice entry, or even a nice used Macintosh is better than what you will get on non-Apple hardware.

You got a great laptop in the G750JX, I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Welcome to ROG :)

Welcome to ROG :)

Thanks for all the data, Im very happy with the notebook, I try to format once for production so start the next one with a clean PC, so I want to try OSX and Win 7, I know that asus dont recomend win 7, but I want to try and see if the performance is better, and the OSX I just want to try, no to work with, but just for the check project in Final Cut. I usually go with this Notebook to studios for shooting and sometimes I have to use final cut, I dont want to go with 2 computers to the set. I work in Windows enviroment. I replace my macbook pro 17 for this Asus.
The start menu is annoying but I can get use but the auto-brightness make me mad.
I wil test the color profile, I find a bit frustrating cant manualy calibrate monitor. I will try to find the ICC profile and upload.

DGPost, the weight of a Macbook Air goes hardly noticed when carried with the G750.

But I can understand why you wouldn't want to carry a Macbook 17 + G750! I've done it with my Oakley Kitchen sink backpack, it's a solid lift :)

You want to check what kind of screen you have installed, the Chi Mei ICC profiles won't help with the AUO.

You can use hwinfo64, aida64 to check what kind of screen you have installed.

My G750JH benchmarks for Windows 8.1 are at the top of the charts. There are some games that show less performance on Windows 8.x, and some older games need compatibility settings, but for me the rest of the benefits win out, it doesn't make sense to hold back on Windows 7 just for a few fps on a few games :)
