Hi all,

New G750JS owner here.

I have a couple of questions if anyone can help.

Firstly I bought the non SSD version and will be upgrading. I was surprised to find that the laptop has 2x750gig drives which means that I lose drive space (unless there is another slot). Bit of a warning to a new buyer if you are thinking of getting the non SSD version to upgrade later.

Secondly ram upgrades. I have one 8gig chip which appears to be on a slot within the machine. Would I be able to upgrade to 16gig at a later date using one of the slots I have access to? Also can you mix and match chips or does it have to be the same one?

Thanks.

I have the same version. I have replaced one 750Gb with a 240Gb SSD and placed the 750Gb in a USB3 Drive caddy so that I can still use it for storage. I have also added two 4Gb Hyperx memory modules in the available slots to give me 16Gb of memory. Not strictly the best upgrade path but I got them cheap.....The real world benefits of ensure matched modules and all that goes with dual channel etc. are not noticeable to the average user. The one thing you must do however is ensure you upgrade with DDR3L memory that is 1.35v not the standard DDR3 at 1.5v. I am very happy with my laptop since these upgrades its a great bit of kit.
