Hello guys I hope someone can help me with this problem I will try to make this as short as possible

Yesterday I bought the G750JH for (3500$) which is really worth the money and I liked everything about the laptop except the wifi which is the main thing in a laptop .

After up boxing the laptop I opened it and tried to connect but I always get connection unavailable for 30 minutes then suddenly it connect for 2 minutes and then disconnected again , this kept happening for almost 3 hours , I tried to change something with the router I don't remember what was it (I think the channel to 11 and the 40 MHz to 20 MHz ) and still had same issue

until I did windows updates ( through Ethernet cable ) and everything worked after that with no disconnects at all so I thought problem solved it was the windows.

But then I had another problem which was really annoying the speed is really low !! My normal downloading speed is 900+ KB and the laptop downloading speed is from 15kb to 30kb !! Some times it goes up to 500 but drops immediately !!

I thought it was a modem problem after reading most of the wifi issues here so I went out and got new modem and still same results (the first modem was D-link and the new one is Belkin )

And just an info we have at home 3 laptops(2toshiba,1 HP) 2 iPads 7 iPhones one iPod and ps3 all are working fine except the laptop .

So can you clarify for me please if I am the only one with this problem or other people also have it and is it a wifi card issue ? Or no ? Because the laptop is really expensive and I would return it and get new one , but I didn't want to rush a judge .

Sorry for the long topic but I had to I was so annoyed by this problem.

xXLeonXx, congrats on your new JH!! I assume you got this outside the US, in another currency, as I paid $2500 for my JH top config originally... $3500 must be in another non-US currency?

You don't give a couple crucial details, and we need those to help, maybe... like what is the model of the Wifi card in the JH? Broadcom, or? Some configs come with the Killer 1202, some with the 802.11ac card.

And, what is the model of the Belkin / Dlink, and what firmware did you update to on the routers - as crucial to update the router firmware as the laptop drivers...

And, speaking of the laptop drivers, make sure to update all the drivers to the current Windows 8.1 versions available on the JM download area - yes JM, not JH - the JH area is out of date, and the JM/JS/JZ are the new products using the same core hardware so you can download the latest driver updates from the JM download area - and the other general areas.

Here is a list of locations to look for the latest drivers in the Asus download areas:

G750 support areas - The JM download area has the latest of all the G750, with JS/JZ next, the G750JW/JX/JH are out of date:

Here are the Asus posted VGA drivers, it's better to get the latest from Nvidia - currently 340.52, except for the JM/JS/JZ owners you probably want to keep using 332.60 to avoid random crashes - as reported by a lot of people.

After you download the latest firmware from the Belkin/Dlink site (don't rely on the in router updates), and update to the latest driver for your JH wifi hardware, give it a try again :)

Hey there, well i had the same issue as you do and posted a thread here, i have a JH too, and the only thing that fixed this for me is installing the newest driver for the Killer Wirless-N card, So please tell us the cards name to give you the proper driver link :).

I understand how frustrating having to deal with this problem, i've gone through the same experience, because before i bought my JH that costed me 2500$, a dell that worked like charme and costs 400$ :D, so just hang tit and hope that the new driver will solve your issue.

hmscott, thank you so much for your answer am sorry for not giving the full information , and waw that's a big price difference and yes i bought it out side the U.S :)

my wifi card model is this one = killer wireless-n 1202 (2.4ghz and 5ghz) there is also these 2 i found them in device manager Microsoft Kernel Debug Network adapter and also qualcomm atheros ar8171/8175 pci-e gigabit ethernet controller ndis 6.30

i really dunno whether its broadcam or something else and i also dunno how to get the configs to you sorry.

Routers :

1st.D-Link model is = DIR-618 no frame-ware update
2nd. which am using now is Belkin = N450 DB Wi-Fi Dual-Band N+ Router - Belkin > which is working much better than the D-Link

thanks for the JM tip just 2 questions should i uninstall the old driver first before installing the new one ? and i still didn't upgrade my windows to windows 8.1 its still windows 8 should i keep windows 8 and update drivers or should i upgrade for windows 8.1 i have stuff installed on hard drive nothing important though .

i really appreciate your help

Hey FalconFX :) thank you i really feel better now knowing that its not a wifi card problem :) and yea that was really frustrating my toshiba 500$ wifi works better than the Asus no offence :) xD because i can't understand everything seems to be perfect on this laptop Except the most important thing !! and you will never think about a problem like this before buying a laptop with these spec.

and my model is killer wireless-n 1202 (2.4ghz and 5ghz) i was searching for the driver in the Asus support but hmscott said the page of JH is outdated i couldn't find my driver.

thanks you a lot guys in advance

just quick update : with the N450 the problem seems to be kind of gone the speed is going up normally now ( to the normal and expected speed 900+ KB ) but it keeps dropping suddenly like from 930 to 500 and then to 244 and then to 188 and then it goes up to 766 and so on , so its not stable but at least its better than the first router (D-Link) i hope you guys guide me to the right drivers and tell me if i should upgrade to windows 8.1 .

and am really uncertain whether to upgrade to windows 8.1 or no i have read a lot of topics and still dunno , if this will help the wifi problem i will do it. ( but now it seems fine except the speed drops which is not normal because there is no other device connected to the wifi )

thank you

Thats great news that you have the same card as i do cause i fixed it with this driver. Go here : http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=3&m=G750JM&hashedid=hk9WNtlEOFPl0Q7s

And just choose win8.1 (even if you are on win8) and go to Wireless > And download the driver with version number V1.0.37.1274 (Its in the 3rd place)

But before installing this one make sure to uninstall the old one you are using, I hope it will work for you as it did for me :), reply back with the result :D

And im still on win8 and it works well, im not planning to go win8.1 anytime soon :)

FalconFX i really dunno how to thank you enough !! its really working better than before now :)and the speed is also better and it stays more than 600 KB but still getting the drops for some reason like from 800 to 630 (no other devices are connect to wifi) it doesn't stay on the same speed which is fine i guess comparing to how it was before !!

really THANK YOU SO MUCH BRO !! :) well i guess i will not upgrade also :) even though my laptop doesn't have much stuff in it :)

and also hmscott thank you so much for the great tips i ll also give these a try now and make sure everything is updated and replay here.

i just hope these random drops are gone :) any ways thank you both guys and Falcon really thank you again.

i hope it fixes the issue for you, and for the random drops you might want to set the router back to default settings before you changed them, because it might be the cause of these drops in speed, and no need to thank me, i had to deal with this issue for 5 days before it worked fine :D, reply back if its fine and working well :)

xXLeonXx, updating the G750 wireless driver usually fixes the problem, as well as updating the router/AP firmware.

Even my new Asus RT-AC68U needed a firmware update out of the box to maintain stable connections => Version 3.0.0.4.374.5656, and there is a newer Version 3.0.0.4.376.1663 now. You have to keep watching the support sites for updates every few weeks, especially new hardware.

I see that the dlink.ir site has the DIR-618 from 2013, with no firmware updates - but now that you have an updated driver on your G750JH you can try the DIR-618 again and see if it works now :)

http://www.dlink.ir/en/WirelessRouter/WirelessRouter/DIR_618

There is a newer Qualcomm driver in the WLAN download area, just posted on August 6th, Version V1.1.43.1280

Here are the latest Notebook WLAN drivers => from my post above, with all the locations to check for the latest updates :)
http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=WLAN&os=3

The Belkin N450 has a few models / regions, so make sure you update the firmware using the correct one :)

From the global site, I didn't see an Iran specific site...

Okay guys to sum it all after updating to the one that falconFx gave me everything worked fine the speed is stable now there is no drops any more everything is perfect :)

I tried my old D-Link DIR-618 just like hmscott told me and its working Fine also with no drops so i think the driver that FalconFX is working perfect

so it seems that the problem was with Killer Driver .

Now i will install this Version V1.1.43.1280 and also try it on both routers :) and i ll replay back

Yes Version V1.1.43.1280 is also perfectly working with stable speed on both routers

D-Link DIR-618
BELKIN N450 DB

So basically it was a driver problem

Problem Solved Thank you guys Rep+ for both of you :D

xXLeonXx, since you have a G750JH, non-Optimus with a GTX780m GPU, you can upgrade to Windows 8.1 without any problems.

I run Windows 8.1 on my JH and can install the latest Nvidia drivers, and everything else I have tried, without problems.

The JM(/JS?) have problems with Windows 8.1 and the latest Nvidia drivers due to memory leak issues - they quickly or eventually get BSOD Windows crashes - so need to stay on Nvidia driver 332.60 or earlier.

The JZ doesn't have problems on Windows 8.1 with new Nvidia drivers as it is really a GTX780m renamed as a GTX880m with firmware that has increased GPU/memory speeds from the GTX780m.

I recommend updating fully on Windows 8.0 via Microsoft update, then using the Store Windows 8.1 update, then doing the rest of the Windows 8.1 driver updates after you are on Windows 8.1.

Let us know how it works out :)

xXLeonXx, it's not the laptop, it's Windows updates. Doing updates can change the order and number of remaining updates. Just keep checking for Windows updates, and installing the updates found - both recommended and optional - except for the Bing installs - until there are no more Windows 9.0 updates.

If you had/have Automatic Windows Updates enabled - it is by default - Windows might have been doing updates in the background - that would explain the changing number of updates to do.

As far as needing driver updates out of the box, it is common among all new hardware - it is always the first thing to do, after making the Asus Backtracker Flash drive... you did do that, right?

If not then get a 16GB USB 3.0 flash drive, the faster the better, and use Asus Backtracker to back up the recovery partition - it is still doable even after upgrading to Windows 8.1 - as long as you don't blow away the recovery partition or do an Install from Microsoft media.

After you have done enough Windows 8.0 updates the Windows 8.1 upgrade will show up in the Store, and you can run it when it shows up.

Be patient and keep updating. Be patient and let the updates complete on their own, it can take a long time for some - rebooting and interrupting the updates in progress can cause problems - if you get stuck there are Microsoft fixes to repair the update process.

Let us know how it goes. :)

xXLeonXx, you didn't need to uninstall and reinstall drivers, something else was / is going on.

If it was working, and it stopped working, it wasn't the drivers, I have run a long time on the 1274, and more recently on the 1280, no problems on this JH.

If you had automatic Windows updates going on, or did other installs, they could have temporarily interrupted the network - there are solutions to all problems - it may seem mysterious at the time, but something caused the Wifi to stop showing SSID's.

You didn't say, but I assume that the Wifi came back after resetting the OS - restoring from the Recovery partition back to the out of the box configuration.

You don't need to keep resetting the OS to fix problems, it is a waste of time, and majorly frustrating to keep repeating updates - you can get impatient and make mistakes.

Calm down, put it away for a time if you need to, and continue when you are ready.

When updating drivers for network hardware, always connect via an alternative hardware connection while doing the updates - if updating Wifi, connect via Ethernet while doing it, and visa versa.

I always use Ethernet to avoid losing my network connection while doing updates.

xXLeonXx, the BT won't turn off is a driver issue - I saw that early before it was fixed by driver update.

Please post a snippet of the drivers showing for Qualcomm - from the Programs/Features dialog, and a snippet of the Network Adapters folder - to show the Wifi/Ethernet adapter icons, and a snippet of the Status dialog for the Wifi.

Did you see other SSID's besides your Belkin before Wifi stopped working?

Try Fn+F2 to enable Airport mode, then again to disable Airport mode.

xXLeonXx, just to make it a fair fight, you might want to do an F9 recovery restore and start from scratch... trying to update/upgrade your way out of this might be a poor place to start. You want to make sure everything is working before moving forward with an upgrade.

xXLeonXx
08-11-2014, 06:24 AM

xXLeonXx, if you did it once and it didn't work, it would also fail the 2nd time... :)

You need to do something different. Are you doing a refresh or a complete reset?

The complete reset should be enough. If you try to Connect via Wifi you should see SSID's. The red X just means it isn't current connected, you right click on the Wifi adapter Icon and Connect, then choose the SSID.

Are you able to connect to the Internet using Ethernet?

You can also try using the Asus Backtracker rescovery restore to start from scratch.

I use the Asus Backtracker Flash drive to do a recovery restore. You have to make the flash drive first, then boot on the USB drive by pressing ESC as you power up - select the flash drive in the boot menu, and then boot from the flash recovery drive.

Make sure you have backed up all of your stuff from both drives, as the recovery restore deletes the partitions on both internal drives and remakes the partitions before restoring the original install configuration.

If that still doesn't work, your Wifi card might have died... unusual, but it happens.

Okay I will create factory recovery image on the flash but wouldn't that restore the same windows I have with the same issue ? And my laptop is empty as new so I will not need a backup :)

xXLeonXx, before you do that, right click on the Wifi adapter Icon, and select Connect/Disconnect, and see if SSID's show up. If you are just seeing a red X and thinking it isn't working, you haven't done the configuration yet to allow it to Connect via Wifi, you need to reselect the SSID and put in the password again after resetting back to factory settings.

xXLeonXx

xXLeonXx, left click on the Wifi adapter with the red X, then when it is high-lighted, right click on it, and select Connect/Disconnect.

Like this:

39978

Then you should see a list of SSID's.

xXLeonXx, I don't know what else to try, if Wifi was working, and you came back and Wifi stopped working after doing a bunch of downloads, it's possible the Wifi card died. If you saw other SSID's besides your own you should still see them. You have reset back to original config, and still nothing.

Since you just got the G750JH, return it for another new one, and start again... don't blame Asus, the Wifi card is made by another company - and these things sometimes die during the first few days of use - infant mortality it's called.

I wouldn't bother RMA'ing since you just got it, return it and tell the seller the Wifi card stopped working.

Sorry to hear that, but it does happen, let us know how the new one works :)

xXLeonXx, hopefully they have another JH... if not it might be worth RMA'ing to Asus to replace the Wifi card, at least it would for me.

I don't like having to deal with the Optimus Intel GPU in the new JM/JS/JZ, and the JZ would be the new equivalent to the JH.

The JZ has an GTX780m renamed as a GTX880m with slightly higher default GPU/memory speeds.

Using the Asus GPU Tweak tool for Graphics cards lets you OC the JH GTX780m to the same or higher levels as the JZ GTX880m.

Read about the G750JZ here in the forum before swapping for one :)

Hello guys.
So I went and replaced the laptop with a new one and it seemed that there was a problem with hard we're and the y apologized for that , they also told me that they sold 20 pieces of the same model and I was the first person who returned the laptop ( because of that problem or any other problem)

So yea after replacing the new one is really good and has no problems :)

Thank you both Falcon and Scott for the help :)

xXLeonXx, that's awesome, glad to hear that they had a replacement for your JH in stock :)

Also, thanks for mentioning the 1 in 20 failure for that vendor - I think sometimes people see the problems reported in this forum and it can put them off getting a G750, but the truth is the failure rate is small, but the reporting percentage of problems in a customer support forum is high - when everything is working there is little need for someone to seek out a customer support forum.

1 in 20 is likely higher than normal too - they will likely go on to sell many more without problems.

Enjoy your new G750JH!

xXLeonXx, glad to hear your upgrade to Windows 8.1 went well and your G750JH is working AWESOMEly now :)

And, yes you can delete the Windows old folder to recover space.

BTW, a bunch of Windows 8.1 updates, and Office updates, came out yesterday, so you might want to check Windows Updates one more time...
