I recently got my G74SX back after having its motherboard replaced due to a bad BIOS flash (did everything right, still bricked, you guys will know the story).

It now runs horrendously hot. My old one maxed out Furmark in the 70s even with an overclock applied. Now I am getting 93 degrees in Furmark and when gaming (Mass Effect 2) at stock clocks, tested with both the newest drivers and the drivers that I set my original benchmarks with.

I am suspicious even of the 93 degree reading, because it seems to brickwall there, with the fans kicking into max at 90 degrees. I am rather annoyed, it seems I went from having a cool running laptop with great OC potential to a burning-hot POS.

Is this something I should be contacting ASUS about?

I would contact them. Hopefully, it's as simple as the CPU needing to be repasted.

This is exactly the reason I'll never send my laptop in to Asus RMA unless it's already hopeless.

For any moderators who might be reading this thread, I have submitted a message to ASUS with Mail ID WTM20111027550591257

I have also lodged an RMA, though this will cost me yet more in shipping fees to the service centre. My patience is beginning to wear thin.
