Yeah I'm surprised there.

I'll be waiting for centre com this week and possibly pccg the week after. As its usually a competition between those two.

Darnassus, a model close to that one from newegg is $1899 US, the link you gave translates to $2400 US so that is a difference of $500 US = $575 AUS.

ASUS ROG G751 series G751JT-DH72 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4710HQ (2.50GHz) 16GB Memory 1TB HDD 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M 3GB 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-Bit

That sucks on it's own, but at least it's only about 1/3 as bad as what you thought it was. :)

What was the difference in cost for your G750JX?

skippy1331, thanks for the heads up, that site isn't discounting - they want the list price of $3199 for the same model Darnassus found for $2756.95

I guess it pays to shop around :)

If you like Centre Com, maybe they will price match the TechBuy price?

I was surprised to see discounting on the G751 already, it is pretty popular and in short supply. :)

I just hope it'll get cheaper.

I got my JX one year ago on Christmas for $2,000.

Darnassus, was that the normal price at the time, a bit higher/lower than normal?

$2000 AUS is about $1750 US, which is about $400 US higher than it was in the US at the time.

I thought your government was starting to take this price gouging problem seriously. Are they still working on it or did that get derailed?

Hey Darnassus mate, slightly cheaper here: http://www.zylax.com.au/laptop/34530-asus-g751jt-i7-4710hq-173-fhd-1tb256gb-ssd-brc-gtx970m-3gb-w8164home1yr-g751jt-t7029h--18791.html

$2680

I'd wait to see what stock PCCG and others get, shouldn't be too much longer

Heh Xero, they make promises but they really don't care.

You really can't compare to the US price. This has been the case since forever. Europe is the same. Taxes, transportation fees, admin costs and retailer margins (due to relative market size) are all greater in AU and EU than US.
