Hi Everyone,

I've looked through several posts regarding the G751JM and was unable to find some information. So I hope I'm not asking questions that have been asked before..

I'm looking at purchasing the G751JM or the G750JM from Bestbuy; thoughts on which one is better? I've heard the 751's don't have Optimus which is a big upside, but was unsure if there were any other reasons to consider one over the other. Bestbuy has two different pictures of the rear and one shows the G751JM without rear vents and another picture shows it with rear vents, can someone confirm if it does or doesn't have rear vents? Also does this model have a user replaceable battery?

Thanks in advance!

twooneoh, for $100 more you can get a G751JT with a 970m, which is way faster than a 860m, I would say to pass on both the JM's, and go for the JT :)

hmscott,

Thanks for the recommendation! I wish bestbuy was carrying that model as I already have credit with them, bummer. The GTX970/980M looks awesome.

twooneoh, if you look closely the JT model isn't out everywhere yet, some not till November, so BestBuy will likely carry it soon - you could give them a call... ask them if they are going to carry the G751JT-CH71

Bestbuy has offered a version of every Asus laptop released, so it will eventually happen :)

Not likely... For a couple generations I've been content with the entry G-series laptops Best Buy offered; so I went the other day to check out their G751. This time around Asus decided to make the entry level G71 with a 2GB 860m, supplemented with a touch screen and 8GB ram. For $100 more, you can go online and get a 970m and 16GB ram. With the increase in competition, I don't know why Asus is getting cheap/lazy, but the only thing going for them now is the chassis. After seeing the $1500-2000 models don't even come with a M.2 bracket, I'm definitely going to check out competitors now. This would have been my 4th G-series, and honestly if I get another it'll only be for the lower right rubbery area, because I use it as a mouse pad and most other laptops use brushed aluminum. :/
