So, I was helping my friend flash his vbios and update to the 11.9 drivers so that we can play Battlefield 3 together. We were able to do both successfully however when we were all done his resolution was limited and when we checked the advanced settings we realized that neither his video card nor his drivers were recognized.

We have identical systems (G73JH) so I was a little surprised.

Windows 7 64bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU Q 720 @ 1.60GHz (8 CPUs), ~1.6GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Card name: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870
Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.
Chip type: ATI display adapter (0x68A0)
Display Memory: 4079 MB

Again, no errors are shown at all during the process. So I really have no idea where to go from here. Any advice would be useful.

I was able to get the drivers installed on my machine using the same process, however his is presenting with this problem. I've been trying to recall if I did anything differently at all with my own machine but I really can't think of anything.

Also, we used the same process on that link, worked for me, not for him.

Ok... so I apparently have the same problem... completely identical to the host's problem.
And I tried out EvakPwn's suggestion to go to that webpage... still no luck, I was prompted with the message of the drivers not having digital signatures
Im completely confused and I am at quite a loss right now
Is there anyone willing to give us some advice please?

Wolph88, When I had a problem upgrading Video Drivers I used this :
http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/555455-amd-catalyst-11-2-mobility-released-get-yours-here.html

See How to Setup (thanks to steviejones133)
The procedure is written with 11.2 in mind but it should work for the latest video drivers also.

Hi, Iam using 11.10 prewiev 3 drivers, forget about any procedures. Just install new on top of the old drivers. I tried to unistall old driver and then install the new one but that never worked for me, system always got damaged and I wasnt able to fix that. Only windows reinstall. I have also more modified vbios, i have the one with overclocking enabled. I run Battlefiend 3 on ultra 1600x900 G73JH. With no problem.

So I decided to install 11.8 drivers instead of the 11.9 and it works.
Thanks for the recommendations :D

At the time of 10-30-2011 the 11.10 Preview 3 Drivers were the best drivers to use for Battlefield 3 Performance since there were many improvements made to the display driver during the Battlefield 3 open beta. There are now 11.10 Offical Drivers on ati.amd.com
