Just bought a used G75VW-bhi7n07 with a bad screen and I have a few questions.

Hello everyone! Im excited to join the ROG family. :D

As I have purchased this laptop with a DOA screen and I was not there to know how/why it is DOA. I am running into a problem. I was just going to buy a new screen and install it myself, but since ive read so many reports of issues with the internal screen I want to rule that out first.

First off Ive read all the forum posts about the bios issues causing the internal display to not work.

Is there a way to determine if the screen is actually bad vs. bios issue?

For example does the screen on the G75s with the bios issue still illuminate but does not display any text/data?

Mine is simiply dead. No lights around the edges to indicate the screen is trying to power on....nothing.

This is model g75vw-bhi7n07 with stock Win8.

What is the recommended stable bios that SHOULD be installed that does not have reported issues?

I have not actually tried to change/flash the bios in fears of bricking the G75 for no reason. RMA would not be an option to me since I purchased it second hand.

I did try booting with escape pressed as suggested - G75VW Black screen (no BIOS) After BIOS update [solved] (http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?34449-G75VW-Black-screen-(no-BIOS)-After-BIOS-update-solved&p=279980&viewfull=1#post279980)

Trying each option either resulted in it failing to move forward due to no bootable information being found or simply booting into Windows.

Oh! And does anyone know the exact part/model number of the replacement screen?

This is just the first one ive found and the prices all seem comparable.

Nothing? All those questions and no one has responded to even one in 3 days...

if its only the screen an external monitor will work if the GPU is still good and the BIOS is good.

I already purchased, recieved and installed a new screen. Everything works perfectly now, so I assume the screen was the culprit unless my disassembly and reassembly corrected some unseen connection issue. Either way... there was much rejoicing. *yeah* lol

Yea good for you. There are issues with the connectors but mostly from people that get aggressive before they figure out how they work.
