Howdy all! I've had my G751JT for a while now and am loving it. One thing that I haven't been able to find an answer to yet is how to disable the timeout on the keyboard backlighting. My searches return all kinds of info for the same thing for older modes like the G750, but most of those have to do with reverting to a specific version of the ATK drivers, but that version is really old and that doesn't seem like the right answer. Is there some way to force the keyboard backlighting to stay on without activity?

Thanks!

I can be totally wrong, but I think there must be something in Windows' register to remember if you chose to activate, or deactivate, backlit keys, maybe it's a value for a counter. Try exporting big chunks of your register, (de)activating backlit keys, exporting again, comparing files with a file comparison tool. You should find an answer in less than a minute.

I would also like to know how to keep the keyboard lights on, all the time. Just got my G751JT last week. Thanks

Same here, would be nice to have the option to make the keyboard lights stay on, all the time.

I can confirm that using the 1.0.00.28 drivers solves the issue and keeps the lights permanently on.

And are all the other keys working with those drivers? Like the steam, shadowplay and rog one ?

Hello Folks,

on my G751JY i changed the following value in the registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\ASUS\ATK Package\TurnOffKeybdLight

to hex 1e13380 (dec 31536000) which equals to 1 year of backlighting. For me it's enough time. ;)

Kind regards

Can someone find the Steam and Shadowplay key registry locations?

You might want to start a new thread for better visibility.

On topic: thanks Ary-Aman! This was bugging me. Not worth the minuscule battery savings to me to have it pop on/off. :)

Still can't figure out how to get the lights from not turning off -_-' any easier ways?

As outlined in the solution above you need to edit the registry setting. However, change the setting to 0 (decimal) and it will be on permanently.

Any way to get the G771 backlight to come on at the windows lock/login screen on boot. It seems to only come on as soon as you press the power button for a second then goes black until you log into windows. Would be nice if it just stayed on after you press the power but.

Don't, Don't and again DON'T !

READ THE STICKY THREAD: "G751 How to change the Steam, Shadowplay buttons and Backlight timeout settings" (https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?56496)
and if you still can't understand THE VERY DETAILED GUIDE (https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?56496-G751-How-to-change-the-Steam-Shadowplay-buttons-and-Backlight-timeout-settings&p=538722&viewfull=1#post538722) - NOTE that you CAN NOT remap "shadowplay", "Steam" button through registry changes... you can only partially effect steam to open itself in a non-full screen .
Nonetheless, there is a way to re-config Steam, shadowplay and ANY FN combo in the keyboard !
for more info on that: READ THE STICKY THREAD: "G751 How to change the Steam, Shadowplay buttons and Backlight timeout settings" (https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?56496-G751-How-to-change-the-Steam-Shadowplay-buttons-and-Backlight-timeout-settings&p=538722&viewfull=1#post538722)
