My 751 jy will be here Thursday. It has a 256gb m.2 drive as the boot/os drive and is split into 2 partitions. It also has a 1tb hdd drive split into 2 partitions. I want to backup the c: drive to an extra 250gb laptop drive i have and then repartition or whatever the terminology is to get 1 ssd c: drive and 1 1tb hdd d: drive.

I assume i 1st take out the 1tb drive and install my backup 250gb hdd and can use backtracker or numerous other programs to backup the m.2 drive to the 250gb hdd drive.

what's next...do i delete the 2nd partition on the m.2 ssd and then "expand" the first partition or can i just "expand" the boot partition to include the space that the 2nd partition is taking up without deleting that 2nd partition 1st?

Last i will use whatever procedure works for expanding the c: drive partition to get one big partition on my 1tb hdd.

Thanks for any help!

I used Disk Management to delete my unwanted partition, then right clicked on Drive C, and chose "Extend Volume" to recover the available space. It worked like a charm, and no 3rd party software was necessary.

THANKS!!! It sounds like it will be an easy affair then. I wonder why they break up the drives like that. Is there some sort of reason for it that you know of?
