View Full Version : ASUS G751 & Extended Warranty ISSUES

I have bought my BRAND NEW gaming laptop (ASUS G751JT) this past week. On Monday (12/8), it finally arrived from shipment service. The laptop is awesome and will not discuss about its features here. The problem is: EXTENDED WARRANTY!

Right after I received my product, I checked if everything is OK, and registered the laptop on Asus Member Site (https://vip.asus.com/login.aspx).

I've tried to buy the extended warranty to my product. The site even offers a x-mas deal of 20% off, but if you click on it, all the sales seem to be available for Europe only.

So, I contacted the Asus support service twice in order to receive any help. First, the attendant told me that the warranty should be bought by the retailer (Amazon) (http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-G751JT-DH72-17-3-Inch-Laptop-Black/dp/B00OBQ5950/ref=cm_cd_ql_qh_dp_t)

I've contacted Amazon to ask them for Extended Warranty from Asus, but Asus answered them that they do not sell Extended Warranty on US (Seriously??) See the email here (http://1drv.ms/1unfwBL).

So when I contacted Asus support for the second time, they told me that they do not sell Extended Warranty in US o.o
Now, here's the totally WEIRD part: In at least 2 US OFFICIAL Asus retailers (http://promos.asus.com/us/where_to_buy/) (Xotic link (http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-g751jtdh72-p-7607.html?wconfigure=yes), HIDevolution link (http://www.hidevolution.com/asus-g751jt-dh72-i7-4710hq-2-5-3-5ghz-3g-970m-16g-ram-256g-ssd-1tb-hdd-17-3.html?ref=1)) there are explicitly offers of Asus Extended Warranty (look at the links, it's not 3rd party. It's legit manufacturer extended warranty). Xotic offers 3-years International Asus Extended Warranty!!

Conclusion: Someone is lying/lacking information about what is going on with the Asus Extended Warranty. It doesn't seem reasonable to me stay just with the 1-year standard warranty in a laptop that cost nearly $2,000 (or over 2,000 depending on the specific SKU/specifications).

Also, if you buy the exactly same laptop in Europe (https://serviceshop.asus.com/gb/en/index.aspx)or Australia (http://www.digitalstar.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?order=relevance&dir=desc&q=asus+warranty), you may buy the Asus Extended Warranty up to 3-years local or international (Asus 360) warranty without any problem!!

BOTTOM LINE: So far, if I want to have my Extended Warranty by Asus, I need to return my laptop (perfectly working and no other issue, but this warranty) to Amazon, and order it from Xotic or HIDevolution (paying a higher base price) just because Asus refuse to sell me the warranty.

Does someone have the same issues or know how to solve this, please?

PS.: 1- 3rd party warranty is not an option for me.
2- If you see the link of Asus Extended Warranty for Australia you could say that I should buy from them and use their code, but the store contact encouraged me (link (http://1drv.ms/1wACRqU)) to NOT do that because the product was not bought in Australia.

Hi glaydersonjonathan,

My assumptions are the following:

1) You come from Europe
2) You purchased the item from Amazon (U.S.)
3) You used a freight forwarding service to get the laptop from a U.S. address to your current location

If all assumptions are correct, your laptop now falls under "International Warranty" not anymore local warranty. So if in case you are able to procure extended warranty, I believe it should be extended internation warranty.

I say this based on experience as I myself have the same model from Amazon and forwarded it to my current location which is outside the U.S. In my case I would have enjoyed 1 year of international warranty but the sad part is, my location is not part of the "supported regions of Asus international warranty" - In short, I'm screwed.

I hope your case is different in that international warranty is supported in your region, and there is a nearby service center in case something unforeseen happens to the laptop.
