I am helping a friend that has a G74sx and we just loaded a fresh full version of Win 8.1. Everything is running great except wifi. On reboot it connects fine but after a while or boot from sleep it won't connect. I used the win 7 drivers from http://support.asus.com/. Does this sound like a bad WiFi card or a driver problem?

Not sure, I need to get the laptop back in my hands to check it out.

Here's an update. I finally got my friends computer over to look at it again. The card is a Intel 6150. I THINK the issue was with the setting "Roaming Agressivness". It was set to medium and is now set to low (no WiFi roaming unless signal drops). So far so good for the first few hours.

I had the same issue when I upgraded my G74SX-BB9K to Win8.1. If you still have issues, Do what I did and download the drivers from the Intel website.

Another option is to upgrade your network adapter. I replaced my 6150 with a 7260, which I recommend if you have a dual-band AC router or if you want to use bluetooth devices with your laptop. A card off of Ebay will set you back only 30 bucks.

An interesting thing I've learned about the 6150 is that it only gets B, G, and N wireless.
