Hello
I just want to ask some questions about G751JT-CH71
1- How many seconds does boot take (time from pressing power key untill desktop appears) ?
2- did you try to overlock the cpu to make sure that it has turbo up to 3.5 GHz?
3- IS sound good and loud ? >> can i watch a movie with 4 friends with loud sound that make us enjoying the movie with a clear and loud sound ?

Hi.

1 - If you have windows installed in UEFI mode, it takes 2-4 seconds to boot. (G751JY with a 128GB Kingston V300 SATA SSD and 8GB of Dual Channel Memory 2x4GB Micron 1.35v). If you have windows installed in legacy mode, it takes 6-15 seconds to boot, same configuration as before.

2 - you can set turbo to 3.5 all cores using intel extreme tuning utility, but it only works on bios revision 220 and older. After you upgrade you can set turbo to 3.4GHz on all cores. You can set BCLK (FSB) quite high, and get amazing OC (I got 3,9 GHz easy with latest bios) but the cooling sistem can't handle more then 3.5 GHz, so it's an exercise in futility.

3. It's loud - louder then most laptops.

I have a G751JY

1) It usually takes some time. About 40secs because I also have password on my desktop and I run on the 1TB @7200rpm HDD without a SSD. On this windows it takes a bit longer. But on my old G75VW the windows boot time was for 20secs, also with a HDD@7200rpm without SSD. The booting is quite fast on these laptops. I don't see why people are so stressed about the booting time.
2) I didn't try to overclock my CPU because it gets too hot even on stock clocks. I did use Intel XTU to undervolt it and reduce the heat, and I also used Intel XTU to change the core multiplier to x35 single core, x35 dual core, x34 triple core, x34 quad core. This means that when all cores are working, you will get a maximum frequency of 3400Mhz. It would be nice to have the option of setting them to a 3500Mhz turbo on all 4 cores, but it is not quite a big difference. The temps are more important than 100Mhz

3) I didn't have high hopes about the sound when I bought this laptop but it does the job as intended. I usually use a 5.1 system of my Plantronics Gamecom 780 headset, but the laptop speakers are loud enough to hear a song or movie in the whole flat/apartment.

Thanks :)
your answers helped me alot
now i want to ask some more questions about your answers
1- is your laptop G751JT-CH71 ?
2- the sound is clear and loud for group of people watching movie ?
3- I think that 40 secs is alot of time for 7200 rpm hdd , it may be a problem with slot ?

Hey Adly. I have a JT-CH71.

To answer your questions:

1. Yes, I own a JT-CH71
2. Good enough. I only have jacked it up to 60% because like many, I am waiting for a fix for the audio. But it is pretty decent when I left my lappy with NBA 2K15 running its background music (again at 60%) while getting a glass of water (about 15-18 feet away) and it is quite audible. Also with movies in my experience, it really depends on the media audio options and how you set up the audio on the player. For instance some DVD's have 5.1 surround available and some don't. The speakers in the system is 2.1 so you have to configure it as such.
3. I can't answer you about boot time because I use my Windows account to log into the system. For me load time of Windows, or applications do not matter, as long as I get very decent frames while playing games.

Hope this helps.

G751JY takes 40 secs? You are kidding, right? I got my G751JT-CH71 (lower model compared to JY) with 1TB HDD only, but boots up in 4 to 8 secs, all the time!
