Guys, Asus now has 3 different G751 Web Design / Layout support areas.

G751 Support / Download Areas - OLD - has all 4 G751 models
http://support.asus.com/Search.aspx?SLanguage=en&keyword=g751&ps=10&pn=1

G751 Support / Download Areas - Newer
http://www.asus.com/us/Search/?SearchKey=g751

G751 Support / Download Areas - Newest - has all 4 G751 models
http://www.asus.com/Search/?SearchKey=g751

Look at the URL's for where these are coming from.

The 1st Web Design / Layout doesn't have all packages the 2nd Web Design / Layout does, and the 3rd evolution Web Design / Layout is the most up to date with the most packages for download.

The latest BIOS 205, isn't in the first G751 Web Design / Layout support area, but is in the 2nd and 3rd.

If you find newer branches elsewhere, different regions with support areas with newer packages, please post and let us know :)

This needs stickied and Asus needs to get their crap together regarding the support sites, no good reason exist for such a disjointed release cycle.

x7007, which Asus Mouse do you have? If you don't have an ROG mouse, then you don't need the Asus Gaming Mouse driver. In fact if you have an Asus Mouse, you should go to the specific download support area for that mouse. Try searching for mouse or mice here:

ROG DRIVERS

Thanks for posting this! Sorry if this is a nooby question, but how do I know which drivers I need to install? In the past I've relied on Windows Update aand a Dell Driver tool but it seems like something similar may not be available for my G751JT

Thanks!

Thanks!

mrw28, it's pretty straightforward, the Programs and Features control panel will show you what is installed, and what version number it has. You need to carefully look at both, as sometimes the version numbering is different for different families of hardware with the same driver name - like Qualcomm stuff, but it is easy to figure out when the number is a whole different number.sequence.

Then find the spot's with the driver, your laptop model, the newest one of that series, and look in the central locations for categories like Notebook Audio, WAN, LAN, etc and pick the newest version number - don't go by date - scroll down a ways in the central repositories as Asus has a tendency to redeploy old versions again and they are on the top of the list, so the higher version numbers are actually further down the list.

Then try to install the new driver, it may ask for you to uninstall the current driver first - then reboot - and install the new driver - reboot again, and then go on to the next update.

You can sometimes get away with doing a few unrelated updates before taking a reboot, but it is best to do them 1 at a time with a reboot in between - especially before checking for an improvement / change - you won't be running the new driver until the reboot. Nvidia has changed that for their drivers - they don't need a reboot - but I still do it anyway :)

Sometimes I do updates weekly, especially when Windows 8 became Windows 8.1, but now I go a month or more - like 3 months last time - and found I had 4 or 5 new drivers to update. Once you are stable you can put more time in between updates, or do them as frequently as before - whatever feels right for you - gaming comes first :)

Have fun :)

Here is the list of places I look for updates for my G750JH; the best way to get a stable fully functioning G750/G751 is to update all the drivers / apps to the latest Windows 8.1 release.

The G750JW/JX/JH/JM/JS/JZ download areas haven't had new updates for a while, BIOS updates still happen in your model's support area, so check there from time to time.

The G750/G751/551/500/etc share the same basic hardware components; check support download areas for new hardware for newer drivers.

Asus maintains central support areas for hardware component features common to all products, those areas usually have the latest drivers after new hardware releases, sometimes there is a lag before the newer drivers show up there, so still to new product releases support downloads for the latest drivers.

Asus G751 Support / Download areas - Asus hasn't updated all the versions of these support areas, this link discusses the 3 locations were started independantly and not sync'd/updated through to the latest driver releases - check them all to be sure.

Hmscott, you are the MAN ! Thank you very much for the effort!

I just found the newest audio drivers on the G751JL model. Btw, in the first link we now have all 4 models. Not 3 anymore :P .
And one question. I see that the BIOS version for the G751JL is newer than the G751JY. Could it be possible to try the BIOS version from G751JL on the G751JY without any risks of bricking the unit ? I wanna try them to see if there are any changes with the fan profiles.

NitroX, thanks, added JL :)

The Realtek 7417 in the JL support area must be where the 7417 driver added to the central Notebook Audio came from. The newest model, even if it isn't the top model, gets the newest drivers.

Flashing strange BIOS's across models isn't recommended.

The BIOS usually has matching configuration info with the vBIOS for a specific model, so even if the BIOS laptop / CPU parts worked correctly you might loose GPU functionality.

If it Bricks, you Ships, RMA ;)

Noob question. I did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 after receiving my G751JT. So I went to the Asus page for the g751jt for drivers. On the wireless and Bluetooth categories for drivers, do I need to install all of those under those categories? I have basically installed every other driver or program from what is listed on that page, including bios 206. I am really wanting what is necessary without any extra stuff. But definitely don't want to leave anything out.

I also have the same model and I am interested in updating my wifi driver. I would also like to know which file to download, because when i go to the page there are like 3 different links that could be it. I don't want to install something incorrectly, so i would appreciate an answer as well.

The easiest way to know which driver to install is to check your already installed drivers in Programs and Features. In there the name and version is listed. Some parts have similar names, but use different number sequences which makes it easy to tell which class of driver packages to use.

Once you blow away the original OS, you don't have the driver list in Programs and Features to go by. So you will need to download all the drivers in a given category that match the hardware make - for Qualcomm hardware it is the worst, there are several driver package branches, and some install whether you have the right hardware or not...

I have had to do this for people before, reverse engineer the hardware installed to find the correct driver, it is possible just time consuming.

For example, download each model driver for Ethernet (only the newest version), and try 1 at a time. Install, reboot, and see if the hardware is now working. If it isn't then uninstall, reboot, and install the next candidate. And, keep going until it works.

The other fun thing, is that Asus doesn't continue to update drivers for a particular product model after initially making the support area at release time - only for a short time afterwards - unless there is a problem like the Audio on the G751, Asus has and will continue to post updates in those specific laptop models with updated Realtek drivers.

But for the most part you need to follow Asus new product releases that use similar hardware and find the latest drivers in those new support areas, and also look in the central areas where Asus posts new drivers for a category.

The list of places to check for new driver updates is in a previous post in this thread. If you are reading this months or longer after the post date, look for a newer list of places to check - I post them from time to time, and so do others.

Once you find the correct drivers, and the latest versions, you will have a reference to use in the future when looking for driver updates - I check every month or two after driver fixes stabilize. You can check the names/versions in Programs and Features.

Getting drivers up to date when you first get the laptop solves most odd problems, especially network wifi/wired connectivity issues - don't forget to go to your routers vendor site to download and use the latest firmware for your router/AP.

Have fun :)

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

For others this is what Smart Gesture is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6wJjDeCVvU

It can also tie into Remoe Link(andriod app for remote control): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asus.remotelink.full&hl=en (video available in link)

You can download Remote Link either from the link above or from the Smart Gesture app itself, if you are not fond of all of the gestures and just want the Remote Link functionality, they can all be disabled. Remote Link works via WiFi (not hotspot mode...) or Bluetooth.

If you are looking for a less suspect link for Smart Gesture (no offence ment) it can be found here: http://remotelink.asus.com/

EDIT:

My opinion on the Remote Link is fairly positive with the following caveats:
*Keyboard entry sucks, it is not live, you type what you want then send it. There is no way to send an enter, or tab, etc.
*The media controls only work with Windows Media Player :(

Noob question: what should I install, the latest Nvida driver 347.52 (10/02/2015) or the ASUS Nvidia Graphic driver 9.18.13.4725??
It seems my new G751JY has got both, in old flavor (344.42 and 9.18.13.4442)...

Moreover, if later (when I will have assesed realibity of the system by stressing & benchmarking) I will choose to try the famous unofficial 346.87 build, to try the Gsync stuff, will I have problems?

Thanks!

RogueNote, all Intel drivers from Intel can be used on the G751/G750 - you can search there and look for the one marked (latest). Intel also has an Update Driver tool you can download, but I haven't had much luck with that new tool - the old browser based tool worked fine. I now search on the site or use google search, prefixing with site:intel.com to focus the search on that site and subsites of Intel.com only.

Asus doesn't update download support for each product, soon after the product is released you will only find BIOS and critical problem area updates - like the Realtek sound driver for the G751 - but even that isn't shown for all G751 models.

I use the central download support areas at Asus to find the latest drivers, except for Intel INF chipset / Intel RAID / Intel Video / Nvidia drivers. Although I have ventured out to various OEM sites around the time of Windows version updates - like Windows 8 to 8.1 as the vendor sites are more up to date sometimes.

The same will likely happen for Windows 10.

When you find new drivers, it helps others if you post the new version number, name, and URL to the location it is hosted along with a direct download link.

Please let us know when you find new useful info :)

ALWAYS ALWAYS use latest Nvidia Drivers.

benjmyers1, that is mostly true, you should at least read the release notes and make sure it has fixes that help your particular GPU or your new games - some of the new drivers from Nvidia lately have been only for 970m/980m.

It's also a good idea to run a couple of benchmarks you are familiar with the results on previous driver versions, to see if the new driver is better or worse than previous drivers, then you can rollback to the best driver for your system.

And, the 347.52 is good for all GPU's, but disabled OC'ing for 970m/980m, if you want to OC those GPU's you would want to drop back to 344.75 or 344.80.

Always is rarely always, there are exceptions :)

I shall follow your method and download the chipset and intel drives from there and nvidia from nvidia. Just the touchpad and such will be from asus. I always though support mentioned the ones on the site and not the latest cause they can be more good or something.
So far just having a bit of a rough time with the Intel ones as some don't ask to reboot and the Intel chipset one did not ask either compared to the Asus version and I'm not sure if it installed properly or not.

RogueNote, Asus makes requests to the OEM's for changes/fixes to issue in their next release of their hosted drivers. Realtek, Nvidia, etc all have made updates specific to Asus, and other notebook makers.

Note, for the HM87, you could stick with the latest 9.x.x.x INF driver, so far the updates in the 10.x.x.x series are for newer chipsets, but you never know - it doesn't hurt to use the latest, they all have the previous chipset support included - but may only show a 9.x.x.x version number for the driver when you look in the Device Manager.

Intel also has a Driver Update Utility to find drivers for hardware components it finds. I haven't had much luck with it, but that is likely because I already have the latest drivers - the old Browser based tool would show all the Intel hardware and the driver version already installed - which was nice.

New Microarchitecture for 4th Gen Intel Core Processor Platform
http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/product-briefs/4th-gen-core-family-mobile-brief.pdf

"Collaborative Processor Performance Control (CPPC)
A new technology based on the ACPI 5.0 specification that dynamically modulates performance vs. active application power. It reduces active power to deliver better battery life and allows deeper lower power states to be reached (compared to prior generations of Intel Core processor products)."

2menijulia, yes, way off topic... and you have enough posts to start your own thread, that would be ok - or you can search on G-sync, and look for threads already started in the G751/G750 or G-sync areas... :)

This thread is about which download support area is the most up to date for the G751 series machines, see post #1 in a thread - it sets the topic of a thread.

So. I format my new G751JY with Windows 8.1 Pro. The same but without all the bloatware. I downloaded all the drivers and install every driver in order as a thread previously stated here.

But I need help...

Intel Rapid Storage Technology - installs, reboot, apply patch and nothing...it doesn't appear at control panel also...what's the problema? someone can give me na older install to test other version of the driver? CAn everybody report if they have the application running correctly?

Wireless Radio control Asus - the same...install,reboot and it doesn't appear...it's normal? again any link to a older version it's appreciated.

INtel inf driver - installed successfully the driver but i'm thinking if there is a new version...?!?

How can I check if Keyboard Device Filter utility is running or correctly installed?

There is not a POWER 4GEAR in this model? I don't have te driver. CAn everybody check that please?

All the keys perform correctly thankfully. Thanks for your help.

kingjezdi, that version number matches Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver release, which names the device " Intel(R) 8 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller"

That Intel RST driver is now up to 13.6.0.1002 :

For the G750JH/JZ RAID and G751JY PCIE SSD, or if you like slightly faster SATA performance and less lag, or if you have implemented RAID, the latest SetupRST.exe is currently 13.6.0.1002

the version 13.6 is for RST ?

kingjezdi, yes a newer version, that was what I explained in my post :)

Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) RAID Driver - use the SetupRST.exe installer
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24779/Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST-RAID-Driver

You need to start getting methodical in your information passing. You leave out the link, or you leave out the whole version number, or you don't include the package name to download, or you leave out where you found it and how to download it... it makes it difficult to help you - I have to research what you mean each time to find the root info you are trying to convey.

Again, you write 13.6 instead of 13.6.0.1002 - why? Too many keys to hit? ;)

Where did you find the 13.2.0.1016 version? You didn't post a link, and the only google hits I get are vendor downloads, and 1 Intel revision txt file that mentions it. There is no link available for it from Intel because it is so old and out of date now.

Intel® Rapid Storage Technology 13.2.4.1000 Production Version Release => look for 13.2.0.1016 in the list.
http://downloadmirror.intel.com/24293/eng/Releasenotes.htm

Conveying helpful information consists of: Who, What, Where, and When => Version of the driver, Package name of the driver, URL for support location and/or direct download URL, and release date.

If you leave out any info, then the reader needs to redo the work you did, and maybe more, to find what you are talking about to decide whether to use it or not.

You are trying to be helpful, and we appreciate that, but you need to spend 10% more time to complete the information transfer so it is helpful. :)

Thanks kingjezdi!!

kingjezdi, sweet, thanks :)

Now the thing with the Asus GPU Tweak, is that unlike other driver updates, these things sometimes don't work right - some versions aren't worth updating to - so I wait a while before using a newer version than I already have running stable, 2.7.1.8 - which was the first version in quite a while that did everything correctly.

Have you used the new 2.8.2.0 Asus GPU Tweak for Graphics cards for your G751 yet? Does it remember settings between boots, and does it draw too much CPU while idle on the taskbar - I usually exit it after boot to save the CPU cycles.

I will give it a try myself asap and report back, and then update the list with the new stable version that works for me... it would be nice to get feedback on the G751 using 2.8.2.0 before updating the list and recommending it to others.

It would be nice to get Optimus owners that use Asus GPU Tweak for Laptops to give feedback on if 1.0.10 works well - I can't test that myself :)

Thanks again kingjezdi! :)

Update: Asus GPU Tweak for Graphic cards 2.8.2.0 has been working fine :)

JBM, try installing the latest version, using this installer: SetupME.exe (about 102MB), found inside the zip file ME_Win7_8.1_10.0.38.1036_5M.zip here:

ME_Win7_8.1_10.0.38.1036_5M\Intel(R)_ME10.0_5M_10. 0.38.1036_SW_Installers_Only\Installers\ME_SW_MSI\ Production\

Found via this list of available versions:

Intel Management Engine Interface download. Newest installer version is currently 10.0.38.1036
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/search?keyword=intel+management+engine

This installer uninstalled the old version correctly, then installed the newest version, verified in the Programs and Features control panel.

Device manager shows version 10.0.30.1054 installed, newer but doesn't match installer version, common with multi-hardware supporting packages from Intel.

diogogmaio, setting it in Smart Gesture should be enough, I see the 3.0.14 is in the central location now, but 3.0.11 is just below it. It isn't unusual for a new version of a utility to not work correctly, Asus Tweak Tool is one that occasionally is bad and you need to downgrade to the previously working version - for example.

Asus SmartGesture

Guys, I installed 3.0.14 and it works for me, on a G750JH.

The zip package could be confusing as to what to install. There are 2 installers and a install.bat. I only used the setup.exe to run the install.

I first uninstalled 3.0.11 and was prompted to reboot.

After reboot I used the 3.0.14 setup.exe to install, asked to reboot again, and it came up without the Mouse Detection set - I needed to re-click the box and Apply, but then it was working - I see the Red Dot over the Trackpad Icon in the Systray, and the Trackpad is unresponsive.

2menijulia, from either Nvidia or Asus. The G750/G751 can use the latest drivers from Nvidia. Some recent releases have had issues, so watch the forums for feedback on new driver versions, and please post issues should you come across any for whatever version you try and have a problem.

It is recommended you do a Custom->Clean (checkbox) for installs so you reset the Nvidia settings and clear out old files before installing a new driver. You will need to reset any Nvidia settings you previously changed from defaults.

Have fun :)

DonniebrascoOG, seems to be a occasional bug with the Samsung cloning software, do the cloning again. It should work the 2nd time.

If not, then try Macrium Reflect Free to do the cloning
http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx

Macrium Reflect has been successful, just make sure you clone to a SATA connected drive for booting, not USB booting; cloning preserves the existing boot method / configuration, it doesn't allow migration to another interface - you would need to massage the cloned image to make it work booting on another media/interface.

It also helps to clone to the new SSD in the 2nd bay, and then swap the 1st Bay old drive to the 2nd Bay and put the new SSD clone into Bay to imitate the original boot configuration. Even better, leave out the original boot drive on first boot of the clone.

Have fun :)

Only Intel 8- and 9-Series Chipsets are natively fully supported by these drivers.

kingjezdi, looks like they just updated again, with a newer version: v14.0.0.1095

"7. Modded & signed Intel RST(e) drivers v14.0.0.1095 (dated 02/03/2015):
New: These modded 32/64bit Intel RST AHCI/RAID drivers have been digitally signed by me according to mrces2's guide.
Consequence: These drivers can be installed without any problems (no "Have Disk" method and no disabling of the "Driver Signature Enforcement" required)!"

I don't like getting non-direct drivers from 3rd party sites, but if you have already tried the previous version, maybe the newer version is even better for you :)

In general it isn't a good idea to get drivers from 3rd party sites promising performance improvements, often they have trojan software, not worth the risk.

Better to download from Vendor sites like Asus and component manufacturers like Intel, Qualcomm, Killer Networks, etc.

Even in a System/service/feature down / broken situation, I will do my best to find an updated driver/patch offered from another OEM/vendor before I will use a 3rd party unknown source.

Without source code, and the ability to vet, compile, and test a solution, it is best to leave it to those that can do those things for us.

There are people/places that will take advantage of the unwary desperate person looking for any solution... be aware.

ASUS G751JT - new BIOS:
BIOS 207
Support G-sync function.

I installed the new BIOS and have the latest nVidia drivers 353.06 ... no change so far the monitor is still detected as a normal laptop 60hz display.

We will have to wait for a specific vga driver from ASUS for this or is this only for the new G751 models but then why is it listed under downloads for G751JT model?

hmscott,

I've read a lot of your posts as a guest and this is the first post I actually reply to.
Yes, I'm a noob at gaming computers, and I actually bought the G751JM for shared Work PC/Light gaming (HL2, driving sims) purposes in great part because of the amazing keyboard layout (I'm a translator). After updating my audio driver this week because all the sound came horribly out the subwoofer, I started wondering about a resource where I could find all new driver updates I should be going through.

A lot of thankses :D

sbROG, yw, I hope you have a long enjoyable ownership of your new Asus G751 laptop, they are awesome :)

When you find new drivers while checking links across the Asus sites, and you install, test, and judge them to be working, please post them here.

I don't get a lot of time these days to post, but I do come in and tune up the download list here from time to time.

I read the posts here to catch up on new releases, besides making a pass through all the links I posted to make sure they work and find the latest update - then I need to find time to test it before I can update the list.

But, like you say, it really helps to have an organized list of what is available when you are having a problem, in the middle of a down time is not the time to have to hunt it down.

Have fun :)

Hey guys.
I have an G751JT CH and have recently clean installed Win 10 and updated my drivers with the exception of two.

1) VEN_8086&DEV_8C3A&SUBSYS_171D1043&REV_04\3&11583659&0&B0

2) VEN_8086&DEV_8C22&SUBSYS_171D1043&REV_05\3&11583659&0&FB

I know both are from Intel, but not sure what they control. I want to update them, but I cannot seem to find where to download them.
Does anyone know where I might find them?

Help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

GS.

It's probably the Intel management engine components, because those were the only ones missing after my G751JT Win10 install. You should be able to find drivers in the Win8 section of the downloads.

Hey GS,
Thanks, buddy.
I was able to update the first one, but I'm not sure where the 2nd one is located. I did some digging and apparently its called the "Intel 8 Series/C220 Series SMBus Controller"

Update: Success! The SMBuss was in the "CHIPSET" section in the WIN 8.

Thanks again.

Hi there,
After I installed Win8.1 and whole drivers (that I thought), I checked device manager and saw that one device (named as unknown device) still remains uninstalled. It's ID is: ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_340F - any suggestions?

I'm the one I'm having problems with the Nvidia driver?
All driver newer than 350.12 give this issue below:

51479

my laptop is the G751-JT with the gtx 970m 3gb, and I've tried everything DDU, clean install, etc.
I delayed to post here because want to make sure to read on other sites (and here, of course), but I do not found anything like that..

This has nothing to do with support and download areas please post it in a relevant thread and edit this.

You can... but don't worry about the MacroKey..
I'm tempted to gut all the ASUS utilities, and make something for myself.. it's like ASUS need to reinvent the wheel(their own utility software) everytime a new laptop comes out
