brinchn27, the keyboard/top is one large sealed piece, as is the rest of the laptop when assembled, except for the vents under the laptop, that is where the air intake is.

With the G750/751 Asus went to a sealed case that has a directed air flow pattern designed to draw cool air front to back, first over the internal components of the laptop not cooled by the heatsink / heatpipe / heat exchanger connected to the exhaust fans, and then through the heat exchanger so the hot air could vent out the rear of case away from the cool air intake.

So be sure to keep the underside clear of obstruction, don't set it down into a soft comforter or surface that will deform and block the air intake.

And, provide plenty of space behind the laptop for the large volume of hot air to dissipate - it can bounce off the wall behind it and flow back into the cool air intake effectively raising the ambient air temperature as seen by the laptop cooling system raising CPU/GPU temperatures higher than would be normal.

Due to the sealed nature, and the tuned input with vents and fans designed to draw optimal air flow, using a cooling pad / fan under the laptop to force cool air into the laptop will have little effect as the back pressure will effectively negate any additional air flow into the laptop. A cooling pad won't have the desired cooling effect.
