I bought the G751JT CH71 laptop and also bought a Samsung 850 Pro SSD. I was able to migrate the HDD to the SSD (100%). booted up perfectly fine off the SSD. I tried to go on my settings and it wouldnt open it would just stay blue. as well as all of the apps. nothing would open, nothing would download. so i tried going through the whole process again with the migrating thing and same thing. I honestly dont know what to do. I used Samsungs data Migration to do this.

Please help me!

I would put the original drive back in - if you absolutely need to use the laptop. Perhaps try to go through all of the initial setup on the original drive, get it updated, etc. - then try to clone it using Samsung's data migration software?

Otherwise - you're not going to get too much help here...as it's Samsung's software that is likely the issue.

hello,

i upgraded my notebook to the same ssd except mine is the G751JY model. Did you put the hdd into the 2nd bay or removed it completely?
if you placed it into the 2nd bay, i would advise you to remove it first and try to boot up.

The bad news is that mine booted up with a blue screen.... and yes i was using the samsung migration software. I had to reinstall windows to get it to work.

The good news is that re-installation of windows 8.1 is a easy task. Just download the installation media which can be found by googling. I used a product key viewer to find out my windows CD key although later i found out it wasn't necessary....something about the key being stored in BIOS now. I would advise you to download all the necessary drivers off the asus support site first then reinstall windows. The whole process will take about an hour but you end up with a clean windows install and less headache then trying to troubleshoot the SSD migration issue.

What is the install media called that is required for this laptop? Is it an OEM build of Windows 8.1 (in order for it to read the key out of the BIOS) or what? Thanks. I'm sure I will want to do a fresh install at some point here...

Awesome - thank you. So just choose vanilla Windows 8.1? No special media needed for OEM?
