hey guys i just purchased G53SX-A1 and even after i updated my Drivers to the newest one im still getting poor performance even on low settings in WOW, when in the city i get about 15-20FPS and outside i get about 30-50fps on low settings, should i just return it and get the G53SW, does anyone else experience poor performance while gaming on their G53SX???

Are you on WiFi? Do you have an Atheros or Azurewave WiFi card?

are you playing on wireless or connected to lan? also are you playing on dx9 or dx11? is your cpu performance on battery saving or high performance?

Then click the New Drivers link in my sig, download a newer Atheros wifi driver, uninstll the old one, restart Windows, then install the new one. Restart and be happy. Lol

Let us know if this helps. :D

Question is should i go through the trouble and exchange mine with G53SW with GTX 460 which has 192 bit or just keep mine and tune it up a bit...????

If it was me, and I had the chance, I'd exchange it. This is the type of thing that would bug me every-time I needed a little more speed.

Retailers should make it clear when a notebook is less than the one expected.

The 560M is faster, cooler and more efficient by a maximum of 10%. But you can reach 560M stock speeds on the 460M with an overclock.

So does it mean its better to go with GTX 460 or GTX 560 128bit?

let's talk lol.

hipotesis 1: you bought a nvidia gtx560m ( G53SX-A1) it means the gtx 560 is 192 bit. have you run GPUz to confirm, pls? and now you think you'll get better performance with the G53SW which has a GTX 460M which you won't!
I think you have some sort of performance problems whit the drivers. you should get a lot more fps with that card..

hipotesis 2: you bought a gtx560m 128bit and you want to know how fast/slow is compared with the gtx460m 192bit right?
someone has answered: The bandwidth is equivalent to the fill rate, not the total processing power. So it depends on what you're doing with it - depending on the game, they'll perform differently. A game that loads the vram once will run faster on the 560m, but if it is loading/reloading textures constantly, the higher bandwidth will feed the 460m better.
And considering they're roughly equivalent anyways ... I don't think it matters.

i have found another one that says: Yes the G53sx is 128-Bit GPU hence the 2GB VRAM The G53sw is 192-Bit GPU hence the 1.5GB VRAM. If the nvidia gtx560m has 3gb ram, then it's 192bit.

I really think that when one becomes outdated the other will be too.. it's a price thing.

UPDATE: check this char thttp://www.behardware.com/medias/photos_news/00/31/IMG0031240.png (http://www.behardware.com/medias/photos_news/00/31/IMG0031240.png) even with 128bit the 560 seems that performs better, but you should get AT LEAST the gtx560 192bit

UPDATE2: i thought g53 and g74 would have the same card, my apologies!!!

UPDATE3: in the real world, he 192bit 560m is about 10 percent faster than the 460m, the 128bit 560m is around 5-10 percent slower than the 460m.

once again i think there's a driver / compability issue. you should get more frames, IMHO. (sorry for the giant post!)

GTX 560 with 192 bit. Save up more money or wait a few weeks for the Black Friday sales. :D

In the meantime, update that Atheros Driver as I suggested HERE (http://www.asusrog.com/forums/showthread.php?5669-Just-got-G53SX-A1&p=41398&viewfull=1#post41398)

I swear, sometimes I think we should rename this site "The Do a Clean Install and UPDATE the Frigging Atheros Driver Republic" !!!

If your system has the Seagate ST9500420AS HDD then you should update the firmware on it to v5, to improve microstutter issues with WoW.
