Okay first of all I would like to thank everyone that helped me from this forum decide in getting this product. :D
This forum has such a friendly and helpful community that you don't see all the time.

So my reason for this thread is I wanna be prepared for when the laptop arrives tomorrow and I would like to ask some questions:)
1. When I first get the laptop out of the box should I plug it in directly to the power source or let it on the battery until it drains
and do some certain charging method or something like that ?

2. Is it wrong if I keep it hours on from the first day if I have many stuff to do on it?
3. When powering it on as it is FreeDOS I just put the windows CD inside and follow the Setup ? And regarding partitions my last one had some pre-made ones but it was still FreeDOS so I assume those don't have recovery partitions and I can delete and resize and format them as I wish?
4. Should I split the 1 TB into 200 and 800?(200 being the OS partition)
5. After I install windows and it's updates should I install a few drivers from the CD and the rest from the site? As I noticed some have some stuff to extract and I have no idea what exactly wish it wad just click and install like the Nvidia ones XD

That would be all I currently question if you have any extra tips and info I should be aware of please write.
Thank you for reading! ^_^

Hello.

I think first thing you should do is to uninstall GameFirst, in my case it caused download troubles and files corruptions particularly with windows update.
Then you should update your Intel wifi drivers, I had wifi connexion problems in particular when I ran the computer the first time. I still have some wifi troubles sometimes though.
Others should confirm that.

Test it through and through for sound issues (plenty of units affected), keep a close eye on the battery (some people report it stops charging, easily fixable though), monitor temperatures under heavy load and make sure that the cooling system isn't underperforming for whatever reason.

G751's are plagued with issues at the moment, and I am under the impression that the only QA you can be certain of is the one you do yourself.

The first thing I would do when you get it is look over the manual.

Hello again ^^
Yup will certainly do that and I hope I won't get it with any screen bleeds or fan problems and such. If so I'l just return it and stick to the PC build you suggested even if it might take me bit more saving to do as I started looking for the parts in my country and they a little bit more expensive.

That's too bad you have to pay more in your country, sorry to hear that.:(

Yeah, oh well hope it will go well with this laptop and in time I'l save for the pc also^^
Still waiting for it to arrive :D
I'm guessing that on a freeDOS model there is nothing in any partition and I am free to format and remake them as I wish right?

That sounds to me like it came with a dead pixel, you can return it, it is under warranty.

Yeah guess so, tho now I'm a bit worried the next one will have a problem also as it can be from the same batch.

It's electronics, things like that happen sometimes and it's unfortunate it happened to you. Return it and hope for a good one is all you can do. The chances of you getting another one with a dead pixel are very low. You have a good eye to catch it.:)

I know of 2 programs you can try to see if it will fix it, it might just be stuck. You want to try them?

Yes well thing is the reseller when i asked for this said they had 2 left so now i'l exchange this for the last one. Should i do that or try ask thrm when they get a restocking and get one then?

Heh well I pay very much attention to detail, saw even the sticker being a bit brushed off lol and besides that I'l use it a lot for Ps where it can be bothering for me at least.
Yeah sure I would try them, got nothing to lose.

Tho from what I read once a display has a dead pixel the whole thing can be faulty and the best thing to be safe is a replacement that true?

After reading this, it seems you have a dead pixel, not stuck.

Does not seem to do anything, yeah guess your right whites seem to be really dead ones maybe if it was red or something it could of been fixed with the website.
Oh well I'l call the reseller and tell them the issue today and maybe send it back today also. Tho regarding the replacement I hope I can get one this month if not I'l prolly stick to building the PC.

Thanks a lot for your help man in everything so far ^^

Thanks :D Yeah I hope so to I contacted them and were happy to replace but the problem I'm worried now is getting it at the same price and this time a good model.
I'l try wait for a new restocking and hopefully it's from a working line of more careful assembly.

Update* Gave it back and now just waiting to see when they getting a new stock as they said they all out of most models. Just hope i can get at same price and the same 980M model. If not I guess i'l start looking for PC parts. It's sad cause i really liked this laptop:(

Nate152

The 980m is as good as it gets in a laptop right now, don't settle for anything less than what you had.

Well like I said i gave it but it seems they are out of stock now and at a different shop prices are way exceeding my budget as I cannot find the normal model without ssd and extra ram :/
I kind of needed pretty much a laptop by the end of this week and was tempted to get the G771 but you have a point when saying to not settle for anything less. Just not sure I can find at the same price range again or who knows when they restock :/

Is it worth waiting or looking more for the G751 or should I just get the G771, can I still have decent performance and stream while gaming ?:)
