Hi All,

I'm not very sure if i'm the only one with this issue.

it starting to irk me a lot (A LOT!)

i got this rig a month back, it is performing very well, however there
is one issue to it. Sometimes when I boot the system up it is just pure black
screen, no ROG logo or what not. The work around that i had was to hold the
power button down for 5 sec (Purge it) and boot it again. Then it will boot up
normally, with the ROG logo then the windows log-in page. I mean the frequency
is not as very high, initially i'm like "i could live with that". But thinking back I spent so
much money on this rig and i got to do this, is kinda ridiculous. To top that it had never
cross my mind "what if the system is installing windows update? and i just "purge it" would
it spoil my rig"

any advise guys?

Regards
David

Just got my first black screen today on my G751JT after one month of use. Seems like a couple of people have asked the same question lately. Some threads say it's related to Windows updating. Makes sense if there's a new update out and the a bunch of people all complain at nearly the same time.

I was having exactly the same problem which I reported in another thread.
I have now RMAd my laptop and got my money refunded.
Don't think I will be buying Asus again after reading all the problems folk are having with the G751JY and crappy customer service.

It's a static issue. Press and hold the power button for 45 seconds (laptop will turn off), this does a power drain and when you turn your laptop back on, it should work correctly. It's happened to me several times, and this works everytime. Very annoying, not sure what causes it, but it seems to work. Hope this helps.

I have a new G751JY with the same issue and it seems to be a known problem of the NVIDIA driver.
Found this entry under "Open Issues in Version 347.52" in the release notes:
Windows 8.1 Issues
[347.09, GM204]: Blank screen observed on an ASUS Tiled display when system
resumes from shutdown or hibernation with Fast boot option enabled from BIOS.

I don't think that it's a windows error or produced by a windows update (like often assumed).

The Problem seems to be related to graphics card, vga port and display.
While the main screen stays black, the output can still appear on a second monitor connected via VGA port.

By the way, I've deactivated hibernate and fast boot be calling
powercfg -h off
on the command prompt (run as administrator).
That didn't solved the whole problem but at least reduced it (got 1 fail in 5 tries).

Now I think it's time to send it back and get my refund!

I have exactly the same issue on my G752... but just close and open screen to resolve the problem.

NB: num lock trick doesn't work when this issue happen
