Has anyone heard anything about the possiblity of them doing a model with a gtx570 or 580? Really like the features but would really love the updated GPU.

not possible. if you're deciding between a gtx560m or a gtx570 you should know there IS ONLY a 3 to 5% gain.. if you're talking about the ATI 6990 or nvidia GTX580m that's a different story

Umm, I believe no. Don't remember where this subject was discussed about, but it has something to do with the deals that ASUS has made with nvidia? Making these kinda low prices possible with this current 560gtx chip.
But I don't think that 570 will hit this model, no.
I was almost going for the MSI _only_ because the 570gtx, but luckily I didn't, those things are ugly. And probably noisy. And I think they get hot too. And did I mention that they're ugly?

i was also to buy a msi with the gtx570m. if you prefer MSI go for it, in the end is a matter of taste, becausde de CPU can be a little better in one brand, but the hd may be smaller..
in the end is a matter of taste and brand loyalty! if you go to msi i think you'll be well served too..

MSI pro: 4 audio jacks ; color backlight keyboard with 3 separate color sections, a better graphics (3% better), better speakers (it has a 2.1 built in system i think) 2 USB3
MSI cons: looks like fisher price, runs hotter, imho keyboard is a little small.

ASUS pro: it runs cooler (IMHO), it has a perfect keyboard layout, it's very quiet.
ASUS cons: only 1 usb3, worse speakers..

The reviews I had read posted the 570 as being a larger upgrade over the 560s (though I don't recall seeing exact performance figures). I totally agree the MSI series are ugly and I've never been a big fan of the brand. It just one of those trying to decide if I should go ahead and pull the trigger on one of these or if I wait a few months can I get the upgrade. Hard drives and memory are easy upgrades, GPU not so much usually.

What I've read recently basically confirms what you've said: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5064/nvidia-geforce-gtx-580m-receives-major-price-cut

That was interesting stuff to read, especially the comments there. And it's always pretty funny how one can suddenly cut a huge piece off of some of their product's price, but that's the way it just works, hands down...

Some "real life" estimates of the differences of 560 vs 570 were around 20%:ish, don't know how much you can trust that one too.

How about 560 pushed to its limits by oc'ing it and comparing that to stock 570? Can't be that far then anymore thus justifying my selection of this oldish 560 for example. Which im very pleased with anyhow. Maybe its the extra performance that 2670qm brings to the table... :D

I agree. I think the 2670QM has a lot to do with any performance jump, and I'd definitely like to read more about users that have OC'd their 560Ms.

What sorcery is this? 560 vs 570 = 3% better performance for 570? Or not faster at all? :P

real life performance.. 0%.. white sheet performance.. about 3%.. if you don't know what to buy, opt by the cheapest model! there is no difference at all between the 2 cards.. but having a gtx580 or a ati 6990, that's anooooooother story :p

If this is true, then I'm happy I didn't go MSI just because of the 570.
