No, the problem was I only got sound from subwoofer, the other two speakers didn't produce any sound whatsoever. I have tried all drivers available and all the settings, but nothing changed, so I had to send it to repair shop. They replaced the speakers and now everything is working just fine.

I have already changed over 14 g751s from work to the 7560 all without problems. I have seen 2 g751s where one of the speakers physically was loose and rattling around have you removed the back cover and checked them? Its only a few screws on the top when its flipped over. I only noticed because i was pulling the stock speakers for those units and installing bose speakers for upgraded sound quality.

hi guys,

I was about to return my laptop so they can fix it, I thought hardware issue, but after reading your posts, I upgrade my driver to latest from asus website I got control over internal subwoofer and changed it to 20%. but this is not fix actually.

I lost the GUI sound managment because I completely uninstall and installed latest version

and the issue is not 100% fix. :(

do you think it's good idea to just return it and let asus office do something with it ?

I don't think there's a real solution to this. Having tried more than 10 driver versions, I still get popping and crackling, mostly audible when on youtube or movies, in between scenes, when it's less action packed.

It's ridiculous how they can't even make the damn sound system work like a cheap Chinese music player can.

A temporary solution is this: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?54290-I-have-crackling-sound-with-g751JY-PLEASE-HELP!&p=492667&viewfull=1#post492667

Still, it does not remove crackling for a long time, for me it seems to have returned back to it's crackling state after 5 mins.

I installed 7576_PG433_Win10_Win8.1_Win8_Win7_WHQL_USBAud_33_W ith_MaxxAudio_Installer_MUP

Which is a Dell version and I don't have Maxxaudio anymore, can anyone tell me how to restore it ? when I try to run the Maxxaudio.exe file it opens me a blank empty windows , when I try to open MaxxAudioMeters64.exe, it shows me Dell Audio with 2 bars and I can't change anything. I don't know how to get rid of it, I tried 5 old versions, I tried uninstalling it in different ways. I can't do Restore Last settings in windows because it was disabled .

EDIT : P{FFFFFFFFFF the problem was using the https://rog.asus.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=48737&d=1430253959 from the thread G751 Sound Crackling Thread (The one thread to rule them all) [WORKAROUND]

Funny you should ask that we found 2 of our g751s has interference while using both the hdmi and thumderbolt port at the same time for multiple monitor configs but only 2 had the peoblem nd i doubt most people are using both ports at the same time. the other systems i have worked on all worked with the driver i posted earlier on page 27-

I know it won't be acceptable or a solution for all, but I haven't had this issue at all since using the audio out on my Display Port monitor. I would imagine the same would be for monitors connected via HDMI. The issue seems to be clearly isolated to the sound card and most likely power management related from all of the other details posted here.

The crackling issue is OT to this thread. There is the dedicated and quite long one here https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?59248-G751-Sound-Crackling-Thread-(The-one-thread-to-rule-them-all) and started by Mousepad. So I suggest to continue there - not to steal the thread.

I would normaly agree to your conclusions but now I am very affraid that we will never get the solution from Asus or Realtek as it looks like everyone are experiencing different kinds of crackling? I have also discovered that registry fix is actually working (in my case)... but ONLY affecting crackling when using the headphones (fixing it) and not affecting laptops speakers where the crackling remains the same. Without the Reg fix I hear crackling at both: the headphones and the speakers at he same time. With the Reg fix I can still hear the crackling coming out from speakers even if they are "muted"/not used while using the headphones... So it still can be hardware related... And if so, I would point to the built in subwoofer. It would explain no crackling with MS drivers... as MS drivers does not ever activate the subwoofer IMHO.

Interesting, using DELL drivers at ASUS and still complaining. Use the proper one here: http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Audio&os=30 but you will have to wait little longer till Asus publish the newer versions as Dell or other vendors do quite sooner.

Also, regarding to Maxaudio problem - solution is simple:
1. uninstall the old drivers
2. software reboot
3. install new drivers
4. software reboot.
5. If still no Maxaudio - repeat the process.

If you still doubt in Attachment 48737 (https://rog.asus.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=48737) and suggest that it can interfere with the drivers reinstallation process (I don't know how it would be practically possible) then you can still stop the service "Play_and_Loop_dummy_sound_service" and reconfigure it to Manual startup mode before drivers reinstallation. After the successful reinstallation set it to "Automatic" and start or reboot.

Change the service 'Play_and_Loop_dummy_sound_service' startup mode to Automatic, not to Automatic (delayed) and make the software laptop reboot.
However even with the service started... you will still hear the ONE crackling ONLY in rare occasions when you are reconfiguring the number of speakers 2.0 -> 5.1, changing the audio card setup, etc. So after the reconfiguration is done the ONE crackling might be heard... but later the should be no crackling at all.
At least it is working this way at my G751JY... I did not hear cracklings since 28-th of April 2015 (ok - I hear only one after reconfiguration of speakers). Maybe you are referring to the other issue then here?: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?59248-G751-Sound-Crackling-Thread-(The-one-thread-to-rule-them-all)

Yes, I tried every single driver from asus that everyone used. as long the service was running it didn't install the audio wizard. its not because the dell, which worked fine after uninstalling the service. still, the service didn't quite work like other pepole people say, can still hear the speakers turning on off with the service automatic.

I just had another 2 g751s this week for that same issue and both times it was actually hardware problems. On one the wire was pinched and shorting out and the other had plastic debris sitting on the speaker cone itself and just needed dusting. I have yet to see a single g751 with sound issues that werent hardware related after driver updates. I urge people to remove the few screws for just the back piece and check the speakers and wires themselves if you cant solve your problem with driver updates. I have tested the new win 10 driver and it works flawlessly.

Hey so i have the G751JL-DS71 and am overclocking the gfx card (gtx 965m) using Nvidia Inspector to overclock, afterburner to monitor temps, valley and firestrike basic for testing. My question is what are the safe levels for this setup? Anyone done it? Asus advertises 5% overclock but this is what ive been able to do so far:

Driver: 355.60
Core clock: +135mhz
Memory Clock: +300mhz

Witcher 3 (1.08):
From 35 average fps to 47 average fps
Valley:
From 23 lowest fps to 34 lowest (highest 74)
Firestrike:
4876 points to 5193
Max temps: 74*C CPU and 68*C GPU
Result: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/5852792

I did push the memory to +350mhz once and ran valley for 10 minutes. No artifacting yet. Looking for advice/suggestions/experiencees

Its nothing new for people to jump straight to blaming drivers then blaming ASUS directly for the drivers when Realtek is where they should be looking. Been at this a long time and first lesson I learned is look to the source. If you want sound driver look to Realtek, You want wireless drivers, look to intel, you want graphics drivers....well everyone seems to go to Nvidia then blame ASUS when that screws up.

hi there,
when i bought my G751JT i did not hear any strange sounds, crackling etc.
Last two days, i hear a strange, weird sound - i do not know if it is the imbalance sound problem, but that sound is annoying and it was not there before !
It sounds like a click, or crack or something like that, for example when i click on volume in tray icon and try to change volume, it clicks / cracks (hard to describe), or when i try to run .exe file and windows ask for confirmation, etc.
I am trying a lot of drivers, the best option for me is to uninstall all drivers, restart pc and let the windows install default drivers - with this option i can hear crackling, but it is "quiet" and not often. The second best option is 7432 driver.
I tried 7520, 7492 from http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Audio&os=30 , but crackling is loud and often.
Is there a fix for my 751JT ? I read whole thread, but do not know how to fix this problem.
I should be software problem as i read - will it be fixed ? Should i try windows 10 with the newest driver ?
Thanks
EDIT - now i am on 7432 driver, sound is quite good when playing music / video, playing games. I do not hear random crackling, but crackling in situations that i write above is still there.

I have heard those on g751s that did window 10 upgrades instead of clean installs but from your questions i gather your still on windows 8.1. It was caused by the windows sounds interrupting the driver to play a system sound. Solved it with clean installs.

try putting your fingers on the touchpad buttons when you have vibrations listening to your music. I found this today . and I remedied the problem by inserting cotton under the keys ...

You might want to use something thats not so flammable before you post a thread with a g751 fire. Maybe a neoprene washer or something else.

Yes of course ! This is not final ( just long enough to confirm that the vibrations were well away). there are nonflammable foams. the time to find exactly what I need and I change all this ..:D

I don't know if this has been said before but check your screws (the one beneath the rubber thingys) and tighten them up.Mine weren't and when I did it had a dramatic effect on chassis vibration and audio sounded a hell of a lot better.

Most likely you just have a refurbished unit then. The screws are auto torqued on the assembly line and cannot be loose unless a person has actually opened your case.

This thread is full of solutions if you bother to go through it but in my experience out of the now 47 g751s we have at the office the only ones that had any sound issues were hardware related ie debris on the cone lose wires grounded out wires loose rubber. Not a single issue was software related. But some people on here swear its software related so they must have issues with older models we havent seen in our newer g sync models.

I rehearsed this driver 6.0.1.7629.... It is the good driver ....I didn't hear resonable subwoofer, crackling, poping during play music or film but i hear popsound before play music/film ( but I think that this isn't problem). I think that 7629 driver is the best driver yet.

For me this is simple:

We must clean this thread and restart just putting the two (possible) solutions. The first one through regedit and choosing the best driver for the majority and the second one with what can a person do at home two fix the loose speakers or whatever.
Can anyone put the thread like this?
I would much appreciate because i will clean my pc in the meantime and i need to try both options.

ICEsound (It is intelligent audio enhancement software that improves the audio quality in sound experiences on laptops) - basically a audio wizard just like the one we have on asus g751jy.

Just reporting my preliminary experience with my new Win 10 G751 JL (I am an audiophile and probably :) have some experience with diagnosing sound problem). Driver is 6.0.1.7543 as loaded from factory.

1. I have no crackling sound as reported on another thread.
2. I do have the problem with distortion - IMHO very likely from severe (and erroneous) software related low frequency overload - but only if I clicked on PRE-SET Sound Effects choices (second tag on Realtek High Def Audio screen) such as "Loudness," or "Bass" under equalizer.
3. If I set my own equalizer preset (up 2 dB at 31, 4 dB at 62 hz then gradually down sloping curve that is down 2 dB by 16 khz) then there is no distortion. The sound is nicer, warmer, and punchier with this setting.
4. Curiously using the computer's own speakers the sound *seems* to be louder on left side. So I just adjust balance to be 3 to the right so that the sound appears to come from the middle of the screen. This problem might be specific to my computer, not endemic to other G751. Not sure.

Set as above, I have "acceptable" sound from this computer. Not the loudest or warmest of sound, but at least not harsh and "tinny" (harsh, thin, metallic) sounding as the default setting.

It seems this bass overload error is "TRIGGERED" when I use the preset Sound Effects choices like Loudness. If I then un-click "Loudness," then sound reverts back to normal. This is just my preliminary experience though. Hope it helps.

This is how I set up mine. Not to imply at all that this is the only way to do it, but for now this setting works well enough to create sound that I find acceptable.

A word on the low frequency distortion: clearly it's erroneous and sounds like something is overloaded and/or some plastic part is vibrating. Whether this overload occurs at software level, amp level (not enough juice), or speaker level (speaker too small for the low frequency demand), I do not know.

Regarding my equalizer setting, if you find my setting too warm sounding, feel free to adjust it to your taste - whatever sounds best to *you* is the best setting. I tend to prefer a warm, bass-punchy sound, but if you want brighter sound, adjust the high frequency sliders to your taste. I believe the key is don't jack up the bass on the equalizer too much; keep the bass boost low, especially the 31 hz slider. Again, I only have the computer for a couple of days so this is prelim. observation only (ie I may be wrong somewhere :) ). Hope this helps.

Hello guys, I wasn't sure if I should post this in this thread or in "the one to rule them all" thread since both thread contain several different sound issues from loose speakers and wires to all kinds of different cracks, pops and sound coming out of the wrong place. I only have one of these issues and that is the "sound card entering and exiting standby mode" resulting in a short popping sound in the sub-woofer speaker. Anyone know if there is a driver fix out that can cure this problem without having to disable power management in the windows registry? Laptop G751JT.

How do you guys deal with the constant buzzing from the speakers? I am pretty sure it's hardware related, but is there some kind of cure for it, or i just have to live with it?
I get it when the maxxleveler or maxxvolume are enabled, without them there is none, but the volume is super low especially in a noisy environment.

Does anybody has a equalizer setup that atleast makes the distorsion to be smaller ? Please post a picture of your setup.

It s really anoying to pay $1500 for a laptop and to see that Asus doesn t struggle to fix this issue...

I managed to minimize this issue in my G751JT by installing Realtek High Definition Audio(HDA) R2.8x (7701) WHQL + Dolby posted by kingjezdi.

You also want to set 500Hz band in your EQ as low as possible. In my case, it causes vibration on my touchpad button.

Any updates?
Started getting this issue regardless of the driver I'm using on my GL551JW, even when I fully uninstall the driver back to the default windows one.
The only fix I've found is going into my balance settings, putting it at max volume then putting balance fully to the left then full balance to the right and
then putting balance into the middle. Even after doing this within the next few minutes my right internal speaker will dip to be 20% volume of what my
left speaker is and I'll have to repeat the process. I'm still under warranty until August.

xposting this from sound crackling thread - I recently installed Windows 10 and the driver it comes with for my G751JT is 7543 and it is horrible. Listening to people talk on youtube at volume level 40 has so much shrieking, distortion, etc. I found 7701 on the G751JL page and it works really well. http://www.asus.com/ROG-Republic-Of-...Desk_Download/

I also did the regedit trick and put maxxaudio on "action" and the sound is much, much better. Just FYI if anyone has the same issue with windows 10.

It is a little better for sure.
But the distortion and everything else is still there. We cannot outrun that sadly.
I am also with regedit, action (default) and 7701.

How about windows sound levels? realtek setting? Have you changed anything? Like internal subwoofer level?
Let me know and thanks.

I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but my subwoofer causes some buzzing/crackling type noises if its level is too high (above 40 or so) and also if the volume in general is loud. Somebody in another thread said this is caused by the left mouse button rattling (it's right above the subwoofer) and I think they are right, because when I hold down the button I don't hear any undesirable noises. Has anyone had any experience in physically fixing/tightening the button?

To have the best quality on the G751JT/JY

If you just installed windows 10 fresh you need to install Driver : Audio_Realtek_Win10_64_VER6017879.zip first then it will install the Maxxaudio program. After that you can Uninstall it and Install the newest 7926_PG448_Win10_TH_RS_Win8.1_Win8_Win7_WHQL

After you install the driver you need to restart and only then use the registry fix not to have the power saving clicking from the speakers.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Realtek\Audio\RtkNGUI64 \PowerMgnt]
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"DelayTime"=dword:0000000a
"OnlyBattery"=dword:00000001
"PowerState"=dword:00000000

Then restart your computer again. ( If you still have clicking , use the registry again and restart again ) For me it fixed it 100% . it does work and should for you too. But it might only work if you are connected to the POWER SUPPLY , I'm not sure , I did not test it ! for me it works using the power plug wall.

Open the Realtek Audio Manager at least once

Put on Maxxaudio settings SoundScape for the best quality in games and movies.

Oh, Man - good setting - without resonance of subwoofer :) Please send picture your MAXX audio setting and subwoofer level 0- 100 . Could you tell me which MAXX audio software did you try. Is this maxx audio sw from Audio_Realtek_Win10_64_VER6017879 the best which you found?

Ok....I have Tried a few drivers for my G751JT .....No one is good :(:( My results almost all have resonance (drivers without resonance play as 3 speakers - bass plays all sounds)
6017576 Bass 50% With MAX audio It is ok for me (This is the best for me)
6017865 Bass plays all sounds (I want bass speaker - It isnt good for me)
6017904 Bass plays all sounds (I want bass speaker - It isnt good for me)
6017667 Resonance - With Bass 40-50% Is ok not good.
6017629 Resonance - With Bass 40-50% Is ok not good.
6017926 Normal (the heights on back speakers are attenuated ) It isn good for me
6017879 Normal (the heights on back speakers are attenuated ) It isn good for me
6017673 Resonance - With Bass 40-50% Is ok not good

Same problem also for my 750JZ, all drivers have resonance.

bad sound:
VER6017304 and VER6017469 (ufficial download from Asus 750JS drivers for Win8 as for Win10 nothing is available)
VER6017576 and VER6017936

best solution for me:
VER6017831 Bass 50% with MAX Audio is ok (bass seems to be filtered better)

Yes, that's correct.

I dont think it's driver issue but maybe drive can limit the issue or reduce it.

it's actually design issue, I did send mine to service center and they replace some items but same story same stupid crackling sound.

anybody found solution for this ?

Hello,
Sorry for bringing up the topic again.

I have all sounds that are coming ONLY through internal subwoofer for my G751JT.
It seems like the laptop system itself configures the subwoofer as LR speaker or something, which tries to play all high tone through subwoofer.
It even plays all sound through subwoofer even without realtek audio driver.
I used to have the realtek audio driver from ASUS and it had balanced sound when I first had WIndows 8.1.
In fact, when I first clean installed Windows 10 it had balanced sound but recently it just started playing sound only through subwoofer. (no idea exactly what and when it started because I've been using headphones and external speakers for last few months)

Can anybody give me a tip for a fix? I've already tried installing various versions of realtek audio drivers but no results so far...

Should be a much better alternative to Realtek and Maxx Audio, with much more settings and adjustments and better sound...

So you never opened the laptop and all of a sudden, apparently through software changes, the issue appeared?
I had the same problem with sounds coming only from internal subwoofer after the G-Sync upgrade, and RMAted it (what a pain is Asus support): they changed the whole left-right speakers part (behind the display, see this video at 4:30: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3x7px8mx5LU&t=581s ).

Correction:
I've been using my laptop for almost 2 years with no problems with audio driver.
But after I clean installed Windows 10 in 2016, all sound began to come out only from the subwoofer.
Yesterday, I clean installed Windows 10 again hoping to fix the problem, but nothing has been changed.

I am sure it is just software issue because it worked before formatting my computer.
Can anybody with similar experiences provide any tips? (maybe correct driver installation order?)

Why we can't use newer Realtek Audio drivers anymore ? the sound works but AudioWizard doesn't detected as working device.

Latest working drivers are DriverVer=01/05/2017, 6.0.1.8036

Anything above it has this issue

With Windows 10 CU (15063.296) I'm forced to rollback to 6.0.1.7576 on my G751JY. All drivers above this cause silent AUDIODG.EXE crash at every reboot. Realtek must update its drivers.

Is there any chance this gets fixed?

It has made using my laptop speakers to listen to anything a completely nauseating experience.

I'm stuck either using headphones or hearing that loud honking/vibrating overtone drowning out everything I'm listening to.

There are a lot of issues ATM after installing build 1703. Some drivers are lagging behind. Personally I've always found laptop speakers nauseating. I bought a Bose soundlink III specifically for that purpose. I use it for playing music from my phone when glamping too but mostly for laptop use.
What more annoying with 1703 if you open task manager and see WMI has 10-15% of your CPU resources hogged. Happens on every reboot without fail on every machine. Only way I know to stop it is to restart the WMI service.

I keep getting weird speaker vibrations on only the left side of my laptop. Is this what people are referring to as the sound imbalance? It is really annoying. I have tried downloading all of the drivers for my g751jt from the Asus website but it doesn't seem to fix my problem entirely. If i raise the volume significantly I can still hear the vibrations/buzzing noises. It is a lot better than before but it's not entirely fixed. Anyone else have a similar problem/fix?
