I tested 3DMark when I got my G751JY and recorded the score, mind you, it had 24GB of 1600 MHz. RAM which means the first pair of 16GB was running in Dual Channel Mode and the 3rd SODIMM which is alone was running in Single Channel mode using Intel's Flex technology which allows you to have Dual Channel mode even if you have a single SODIMM alone as it is in the configuration of a 24GB RAM machine which is the worst RAM configuration I've ever seen!

I'll take 16GB of RAM in Dual Channel mode any day over 24GB in Flex Mode.

Anyway, here are the results (everything running on stock no overclocking):

Note: the 24GB / 1600MHz RAM 3DMark test was done while I was using the factory installed OS, but the second test was done after a clean install of Windows 8.1

I can't see how could the RAM speed influence a grapghics test like 3d mark. Your first score was already too low for the average gtx980m score. That was the score that I used to get when I was keeping Shadowplay running all the time (even when doing the benchmarks). Without Shadowplay the score would get around 8500. So maybe that's also what happened in your case.

How to ensure Shadow play is off?
