like u know after the last driver we had a bum with the no overclocking problem, but now we have the answer from nvidia

"As you know, we are constantly tuning and optimizing the performance of your GeForce PC.

We obsess over every possible optimization so that you can enjoy a perfectly stable machine that balances game, thermal, power, and acoustic performance.

Still, many of you enjoy pushing the system even further with overclocking.

Our recent driver update disabled overclocking on some GTX notebooks. We heard from many of you that you would like this feature enabled again. So, we will again be enabling overclocking in our upcoming driver release next month for those affected notebooks.

If you are eager to regain this capability right away, you can also revert back to 344.75."

it's not like you know how to overclock anyway. i don't know why you

u are not worth to speak with,u are just a kid who obsesses with a laptop and finally, thinks, that he descovered overclocking.
get over yourself, stop spaming, stop repeating yourself and learn a little grammar before u speak so people actualy understand the meaningless things u say.

For your curiosity i know how to overclock but i dont need it now, maybe after 2 years when the gtx 980m will be getting slower and i didn't want that nvidia take it from me,but to keep the overclock from the first month is a stupid idea,in time u will see why if u keep it like this permanent
You have a lot to learn but u dont want to and thats your problem.

p.s: with the pm's swearing and the personal atack that u did now again u are reported to the admins

This is good news,it seems that nvidia is listening the customers wishes

Awesome news! NVIDIA got their customer back.

As for people saying overcloking laptops is worthless or that it can't be done to significant amounts...stop talking out the @$$ :P. I have a $1500 JT with a 970m, that can perform as well as a $2000+ JY due to overcloking.

you're so pathetic. stay in your ****ty country romania and shut it.

Edit: Please use the next week to think about the proper way of conversing and interacting with others.

wow, thats so rude and mean and u still can't figure out why people don't like when u have that kind of thinking.
after the last phrase u are just over the human common sense and i will ignore u in the future, its not worth it.

hulksmash u are right, but what i said then was that the 970m can reach almost as stock 980m,but 980m can also get overcloked in the same amount.
lets get it behind us and see what is the real importance

have a nice day

D0r1n, sorry I didn't mean that at you. I meant that at king, because of the 5% thing he said, 5% is not a limit. And yes, of course, you can always overclock a 980m...

i am upset because that was a very rude thing to say,i admit that i was too a little impulsive but i have a common sense, like a said lets get over with.

ontopic: are u using the last driver or the 344.75 like me?

HulkSmash

Yup, still on that one until the something that allows overclocking comes out.

u keep it oc all the time? how much oc u have?

I keep it OC at all times yes. I know it can go further safely for sure, haven't had the time to see where my limits are yet. But currently I have 1.0 on voltage, 180+ on core and 275+ on mem. Temps usually hover around 68C when gaming, highest I saw was 71C.

u have changed your bios that u have 180 memory?

mine i keep at +124 and +600 and i get 9600 in firestrike,about 14-15% more performance but i reach 75c and i use notebookfan

It seems that Nvidia continues with the OC blocking by using a more directly approach, by blocking the GPU Vbios. New buyers of GTX970m/GTX980m, be careful !

it seems that we should've voted for unlocked video boards, now they give us OC free drivers but they are locking the video boards, thats so nasty

Yeah, I have a modded VBIOS, and it was actually extremely easy to flash it...I had never done it before either.

Could you post some benchmarks with the OC ?

Are you able to overclock now with latest nvidia driver release? I used nvidia Inspector but no luck

There is no new driver at the moment. We will have to wait March.

Just wanted to share my experience...

Luckily I am still on Forceware 344.75, and I see amazing results after overclocking the GPU (970M), yet keeping temperature under control. Here's an exampe...

Before OC

47123

After OC (+75Mhz core clock & +250Mhz mem; Note that I still had room of +60 more core-clock, but didn't wanna try anything crazy at this time :)). Also, the temperatures were around 66'C, and the fps on Far Cry 4 (Ultra settings) got bumped up from ~50 to ~56, which is not bad at all.

47124

All I recommend is don't overclock if you are not sure what you are doing. Do some research and try at your own risk!

can we do overclock with 347.71 drivers ? Cause I'm trying to do so with MSI Afterburner but everytime I set it, it reverts back to 0.

According to my knowledge, Nvidia blocked overclocking feature on drivers that came after 344.75. Initially, I downloaded 'Nvidia Inspector' and made sure that the overclocking sliders were not greyed out, which means that the overclocking feature was still enabled on my laptop. Then I used EVGA Precision x16 software to carefully overclock the GPU (but I reverted the clocks back to default for now, as I did't need overclocking at this point of time)

Here's the latest article on notebookcheck.net, that talks about this ongoing issue:

Hey guys, here's my video of overclocking G751JT (GTX 970M), that I would like to share. Also, PLEASE SHARE & SUBSCRIBE...I will be benchmarking a number of latest games in next few days. Enjoy!!

Per my experience, G751 is an amazing machine, and can withstand max GPU overclocking (of course after tweaking to stable memory overclocking). To be precise, increase of GPU clock by +135MHz, and Memory clock of about 500MHz, gave me a pretty stable base data.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bv3bNYfClKE

I have got a separate video (which is still in progress ), that shows before/after overclocking numbers of 'Unigine Heaven' with max settings. Will post it as soon as it's available.

PLEASE NOTE: This overclocking video is only based on my experience, on my laptop. All I recommend is not to overclock if your machine is doing just fine, or if you are not sure what you are doing. Do some research, and try at your own risk!
