Hi!

I had the same problem while gaming, but the answer was simple in my case. When you plug in the headphones, the default setting of the driver is to pop up a message in which you can select what audio device you connected and then you have to OK it to have sound coming from your headphones/external speakers instead of the internal speakers of your laptop.

I hope it's as simple as this.

Are you possibly using an external monitor? When I updated my audio drivers, on the bootup it defaulted to playing audio through my monitor speakers.

Right-click on the speaker icon in your system tray, and look at Playback Devices. I believe you want to have Speaker selected as the default playback device, even if using headphones. I use external speakers as well, so this may be incorrect....hopefully someone will post the correct info if so.

I've got the exact same issue. I was waiting for new drivers since October and still the issue hasn't resolved yet. If you go to device manager and open up the sound devices, you will that you have "NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM)" (ShadowPlay Audio Capture Driver) as well. I was wondering if that conflicts with the Realtek driver, but I've checked and now I'm sure that it's not making any problem.

It's not a problem to use the older version of audio driver from Realtek, but that one hasn't got MaxxAudio EQ and Function Buttons work only for the Speakers.

I have no idea what's the problem and I'd be very happy if the issue will be resolved

Did you try using the latest drivers? The 7.393 driver isn't the latest. You can get the latest here http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Audio&os=30 (select Windows 8.1, then get the V6.0.1.7432 one which is the latest).

I'm using the 6.0.1.7393 version on the Windows 7. I'll try to isntall the drivers you've shared.

I've installed the 6.0.1.7432 version and I couldn't see any difference.
