Hey all,

I was searching around but couldn't find any info on replacing the current 460m with another video card. I'd love to upgrade this card to a newer one if it's possible. I normally build PC's and the G73Sw was my first venture into the laptop world so I'm not 100% sure if it's at all possible.

Thanks!

I think so but you need a special card from Asus. They have some sort of ass-backwards card connectors that only Asus makes. You could poassibly get something on EBay.

Ahh thanks. I tried to do some research but to no avail, no luck for me. Can't seem to find anything anywhere on a connector for it. I may just say the heck with it but if anyone has any other input please let me know

thanks again

Do they tell you where to get the new card? That'll be the hard part, not the actual switchover.

From what I'm reading, it's not easy to get the GPU chips to do something like this. That is assuming you obtain one that is compatible with your motherboard, BIOS, etc.

Hi. G73SW is upgradeable to any other mobile kepler gpu with right video bios and neccessary heatsink modifications. In fact I have 2 g73SW's one upgraded with msi 770m and other with dell 680m. Both perform like charm in games . On model with 680m i had to Upgrade charger from original 150watt to one with 230watt. Wattmetter recorded when gpu is overclocked and gaming max I have noticed is 229 watt.
Here is link to 3dmark11 score done with 680m on G73SW: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/7630058

Hi I recently came over a G73SW pretty darn cheap, and I'm thinking about upgrading the GPU, can we exchange email and talk more over there? Because I would need to get a hand on the vBIOS as well as some tips.

Thanks in advance, best regards Xeroxd!
