You can buy the laptop at the Asus store (http://store.asus.com/us/item/201503AM110000043/A23719).

--Edit
Seems store isn't working... first my page shows that you can add it into the cart, page refreshes automaticly (or maby it didn't loaded propperly) and the add to cart button is changed for a "comming soon" text...

I gotta say, I'm a little disappointed that there isn't even an option for the 970m. I understand it's probably do to heat, but I really would prefer the extra performance even with a little bit more heat.

MarshallR, is the sister machine (UX501) just a concept or almost ready for sale? If they have the same specs, I may try the silver.

It should now be on sale too (since GTX 960M just launched).

When should I expect to see the G501 and UX501 on sale in the USA? My current rig is falling apart (literally) and I really want to buy a G501.

@MarshallR Any chance to get the G501 announced in Europe ?

Europe already has it - certainly Germany and UK. More stock and markets should be opening in April.
@Pinz - try asking on ROG France forums or ROG France Facebook page - they are managed by our French team.
USA will stock it around mid-April.

Can we get some idea of battery life on this with the different displays? Are they all matte?

I don't see any availability for the 1080P version? Will this also be coupled with 16GB of RAM? I'm really not interested in dealing with Window's terrible scaling problems. If the 1080P version is not coupled with 16GB of RAM, is it possible to upgrade it to 16 or is there only 4GB soldered + 1 DIMM expandable?

From the specs: "DDR3L 1600 MHz SDRAM, OnBoard Memory 4 GB / 8 GB, 1x DIMM socket, DIMM Up to 16 G"

Just noticed an oddity in the specs from Asus's website: Intel® HD Graphic 5100, listed under chipset. From Intel's chipset page for specs, No for integrated graphics. For the i7-4720HQ CPU, it lists "Intel® HD Graphics 4600".

It would be nice to know if you can switch between the iGPU and dGPU as well.

It's not possible to upgrade without breaking the warranty, although we will show you the components inside one next week.

All the displays are matt.

The specs are chosen by each country/retailer, rather than us in HQ. You can push a retailer to stock a certain spec.

The HD 5100 spec is wrong - I will get them to change it. Good spot!

No problem.

No problem.

Can you switch between the iGPU and the dGPU?

The same way any Optimus system switches - profiles within the Nvidia drivers enable the use of dGPU over iGPU when it detects certain programs running.

Does the 501 support the addition of extra SSD as the 512Gb would not be big enough for me. I had a similar problem last time and I don't want to make the same mistake.

G501 is now on sale. It was released a week ago in Singapore. I played with it earlier. Can anyone comment on whether it does indeed have PCIx4 as when the ASUS rep opened it up only 2 were visible, are the other 2 located under the keyboard?! retailing for 2698 SGD exVAT in ASUS or 2599 SGD exVAT in some competitor stores in the Funan digital Mall in SG. It got really hot ona Firestrike Extreme test on the top right corner after 15 mins. All vents are at the back under the screen where it folds.

@MarshallR
Is a option to have configuration with 1080p matte, SSD 512gb and 96WHr battery?

x4 denotes the number of PCIe lanes the drive uses. There's one SM951 drive in the laptop.
