So I bought a new ADATA SP900 M.2 SSD, but the system doesn't detect it.

The BIOS doesn't show it at all. I'm running the latest 206 BIOS. All other drives are detected, but this particular SSD isn't.

Is there a compatibility issue?

Ramzay, the G751JY uses the form factor M.2, and it uses the PCIE x4 interface.

The ADATA SP900 is a form factor M.2, but it uses the SATA III interface.

These aren't compatible. Replace it with an M.2 PCIE x4 SSD.

The newest is the Samsung SM951, which is faster than the XP941 shipped with the G751JY - but even that model is 2x faster than the SATA III M.2's :)

Unfortunately I couldn't find a place offering the SM951 yet, still a few weeks off before shipping.

Here are the XP941's available on Amazon, except for the 128GB, that's too small for a boot drive...

Please let us know what you get and how it works out for you :)

Thanks for the reply.

Man, those drives are expensive. the ADATA cost $180 CAD (so around $140 USD). Guess I won't be using a M.2 after all. The cheapest compatible drive I can find locally is almost twice the price of the ADATA.

Samsung SM951

WTF

The company claims sequential read performance up to 2150 MB/s and sequential writes as fast as 1500 MB/s

omg, but nice xD

IN june/july it is expected other companies will release similar drives so hopefully that will lower the price then, wouldnt mind having such a drive in my notebook, damn

Next time before you resurrect a 6 month dead thread search or even look right at the top.

Unless you lose the optical or use a naked drive under the pcie with a 3 printed bracket no.

this looks to be the newest and fastest but would it work in a G751

You could have searched aswell carn. This has been discussed multiple times in multiple threads. Yes you can get a nvme to boot but its a nightmare i wouldnt do it again considering the performance of the ahci model is within 5 percent and boots without any modding. His question was about adding another drive not the sm951 that this topic discuessed 6 months ago.
