I have spent a lot of time with ASUS support, and they bounce me between support, service, and components departments. What I need is the mounting bracket pictured here:

http://rog.asus.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/g751-upgrade-guide-6-980x522.jpg

I have a G751JT-CH71, which didn't come with the 2280 SSD. I bought one which arrived today and have not had any luck finding one anywhere.

If anyone has had any luck, please let me know.

You're my hero. Literally. I spent four hours being knocked around by ASUS' customer support and you saved the rest of my day.

always check that site if you need a part, even if not buying there you could provide customer supprt with an article number of the part you need and all.

shelltaur, did you visually check for a M.2 PCIE connector in the Left Bay? As far as everyone has reported so far, the JT doesn't have an M.2 PCIE x4 connector, since no JT model ships with an M.2 PCIE x4 SSD.

Even some JY owners without a Asus configured M.2 PCIE x4 SSD in their model have also reported that they don't have an M.2 PCIE x4 connector in their Left Bay either... some early units did, but after a while Asus must have started omitting that M.2 PCIE x4 connector on JY units that didn't ship with an M.2 PCIE x4 SSD.

You might want to verify before ordering all that stuff.

If you do have an M.2 connector, would you please post a photo of the Left Bay with the connector and a photo of your Box edge label with the configuration info - mask out the serial #

It would be awesome if Asus included the M.2 in new JT's :)

mik78, wow, that's awesome :)

Please post the image, if you can remove the 2.5" already installed so the angle of view clearly shows the dark connector in the cutout, or just the solder nubs for where the connector normally goes.

What country/region did you purchase? Googling that model shows Poland.

mik78, those are great photo's thank you for taking the time to take them and post them :)

I guess I will drive over to Fry's and see if our US G751JT's have an M.2 connector, they aren't usually in stock, but I will keep checking.

If anyone in the US with a JT has the M.2 connector, or if they have a JT that came with an M.2 PCIE SSD please let us know, from early on reports were that the M.2 connector wasn't there on JT models.

Thanks again mik78!

HI,

I also have the G751JT T7070H UK Model, and i also have the same connectors, and i also remember posting on this forum because i wanted to switch out the 128gb ssd with a 512gb ssd, but the advice i was given was to try and get an m.2.pcie as it would be faster so im sure all g751jt's come with this connection as i did state my make and model.

yahya32, wow, that's awesome. I guess things have changed and Asus is including the M.2 connector on systems that didn't come with an M.2 SSD :)

Which make/model of M.2 PCIE x4 SSD did you end up getting, how do you like it?

I may have to rethink getting a G751JT now myself, that missing M.2 PCIE x4 interface was keeping me from considering it... thanks guys :)

Sorry i didn't make my self clear, i didn't actually get a m.2 pcie as i already had a 512gb ssd, so i just switched it out with the 128gb that came with it. maybe in the future. But after searching on this forum some people are saying it exists on the g751jt but it is not connected?? so not sure who to beliveve now.

yahya32, I haven't heard of anyone trying an M.2 connector that was there and saying it didn't work, if you have an M.2 connector then it likely works.

What has been reported for both JT and JY models is *not* having a connector at all, just a blank spot with those little solder circles where the connector would go.

If you saw the M.2 connector in the left bay, inside the notch at the top of the bay, then it should work :)

What model do you own?

I just received the G751JT-CH71 from Amazon.com and it doesn't have M.2 connector.

Hey man,

Thanks again for the help. With this SSD and booting using UEFI mode I have a sub six second boot time to login.

Yes my JT comes with that port as well.

This inconsistency of Asus not including the M.2 connector in some JT's/JY's really makes it tough to consider ordering without knowing for sure if you are going to get one. It makes no sense to make it impossible to know before opening your laptop up to see if it has an M.2 connector.

We both paid the same price and one of us didn't get as many features, I'd be upset as well.

MY 751JT CH71 has the M.2 as well. I think the earlier models had it but then they discontinued it. I bought mine in December

I'm noticing on the picture you posted showing the Asus installed one, there looks to be some sort of heatsink pads on that bracket, yet with the one shown you can buy, it doesn't show those heat sink pads.

I have an Samsung xp941 that will generate a tonne of heat so i'm wondering if we have to buy the pads separately?

I bought my JT in Canada and it has an M.2 slot. I went ahead and purchased this. :)

My main concern is the heat that the Samsung xp941 puts out. When i had it in my computer, I had it on a PCI-E to M.2 Adapter with heatsink. There were times it got over 80C during big file transfers.

Being that this will be a boot drive, hopefully there won't be big file transfers but still.

I upgraded to the SM951 which is much cooler and providing over 2200 sequential read speeds ! :)

I don't have the SM951 in my laptop. I put that in my main computer. I will say it booted up a LOT easier and quicker than the xp941.
