I have a few questions. How did you get this result? do you use xtu for processor? Why is the default clock so high? my default is 924.iI havnt the powertarget option in gputweak same version same driver.
can you tell me how many minutes does this setup work and which temps you have?

Hello Mate,

I don't use xtu. This is a gpu overclock not cpu. I am using a modded vbios for my gpu that allowed me to add +500 mhz on the core. that's why i have the gpu power target and other things enabled. my temps get around 83C while gaming. cheers

I haven't tested bunch of fps games with it but so far i played metro last light and battlefield 4 and in bf4 on ultra i was getting over 150 fps. and 120 fps in metro last light depending on the which part i am. ill try to take before and after screenshots of the fps and post hopefully.

Guys just to let you know overclocking with a custom vbios VOIDS your warranty. and it can hurt your system if you don't know how to do it or without professional help. If you really still want to overclock no matter what Pm me.

How are your temps man? Have you analyzed ingame? Have you tried running furmark for a few minutes. I have small overclock so far, 180+ on core, 270 on mem, and voltage sitting at 1093mV. Running Furmark for like 15 mins reached a pretty high temp, around 87C. Some games that are really intensive will hover around 75C and sometimes reach 81C...

I doubt this runs stabe enough for everyday use. That GPU will burn to a crisp soon.
It's an experiment, nice for showing numbers, but nothing more. I will remain with my powerful and cool 980m :)

only a small difference from 970m to 980m unless the person is a fps freak

How do you get 150fps on battlefield?? The 980m is around 73 fps and yours is 150?! So you are telling us you are getting 3 times the perfomance (55 to 150)?? This smells fishy.

Yo, is it possible to revert the VBIOS to it's original factory status? I mean obviously it is. But could anyone share the original one if they have it? I liked to always have stuff backed up!

No it isnt, in no world does a stock GPU EVER do 3 times the performance of stock while overclocked. Common sense guys.

My thoughts exactly...there is NO way he is getting even 120fps on Ultra (which includes 4x MSAA, even using MFAA) on a 970m. And I highly doubt it's running at 1515, maxwell is a great OC'er but unless you are on LN2 - not likely - it's just not going to happen. I would hesitate asking for a vBIOS. Probably a kid that wants you to download some malware so he can open your CD tray and laugh.

I have not had a chance to overclock a laptop before but have done my share on my desktop rig (2x 780ti SLI). It is very important to do small jumps, watch the temperature difference from heavy gameplay of at least 45 min, and to watch of for blue screens. Generally you can push the RAM much farther than the core. If you can keep the temp in a good place 300/500 might be ok. Personally, I would start at half that and do 45 min, then add more in 50 increments. If you blue screen or it gets to hot, turn it down. Also, look up the Max operating temp for your GPU and make sure it stays a few degrees lower than that.

On a side note, you may not receive the same results as other people. someone running the exact same build that you are might be able to do 300/500 but you might only be able to pull 100/200. Every chip is going to get something slightly different due to processing errors and normal manufacturing variations. This is why its safer to test what your computer can do for you, and not just try to do what someone else can pull :)

Apparently - This is the SOURCE FOR THE MODDED vBIOS for G751JT/Y: Prema MOD (https://biosmods.wordpress.com/g751jx/)

IMPORTANT NOTE: In Prema's site there is a WARNING:

WARNING:
THE RECENT VERSIONS OF EVGA PRECISION X (THROUGH NVIDIA DRIVER) ARE BRICKING THE LCD SCREENS EDID!
REMOVE IT FROM YOUR SYSTEMS UNTIL THEY CAN FIX THE BUG!

For those who doesn't know that "EVGA PRECISION X" - look here (http://store.steampowered.com/app/268850/) - BUT AS THE WARNING SAYS - DO NOT INSTALL IT !!!!

I OC my g751jt core/memory +450, temp is not higher than 82 degrees in witcher 3(maxed out 35-55 fps),in battlefield 4 never more than 78 defreeswith stable 60 fps(v-sync on),I got 8697 points in firestrike, by the way the Max temp for gtx970m is 95 degrees. But the power from adapter is not enough and battery discharging while playing demanding games.

Alekse1ch
02-18-2016, 02:52 PM
I don't believe that gtx970m can run stable with core more than 1488 MHz, i've tried to do it, even run firestrike, but in games it always crash, maximum is +450MHz,and I drilled holes under the coolers, only after that I've got temperature not exceeding 84 degrees.Maybe this information will be usefull.

And sorry for my english.

Sorry for necro post but:

Is this, in fact, a safe and reasonable thing to do? Or is it just asking for overheating, unreliable voltages, and/or battery failure?

Don't just flash random G751JT Vbios - you MUST know if your laptop support G-sync or NOT.... the VBIOS is DIFFERENT for each case !!!
