My Rog Raidr is treated like a normal HDD in my Windows 8.1 OS.
If I right-mouse-click on the drive>properties>tools>optimize, then all my drives are listed as harddisks (for defragmentation) and also my Raidr is listed as HDD instead of SSD. Windows 8.1 is said to do a trim command instead of defragmentation, if it recognizes a drive to be an SSD and for that reason defragmentaion should not be disabled for a SSD. But in my case, Win 8.1 doesn`t recognize it as SSD. How can I tell Win, that it is an SSD?
BTW. my OS is not on the Raidr. I`ve also read this:
https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?40302-W8-1-Raidr-as-Second-drive-not-recognized-as-SSD&highlight=trim
What else can I do?

Hello

Did you do as shown in post #4 of the thread you linked to?

Yes, I ran "winsat formal". But it did not work on my PC (it also did not work for the thread opener of the other thread, as well, because the Raidr is not used for the OS).

Hello

From an elevated command prompt try winsat disk -drive x where x is the drive letter of your RAIDR drive.

What is an "elevated command prompt"? And what does "winsat disk -drive x" actually do? Thanks for your help btw.!

Thanks and what does "winsat disk -drive x" actually do?

Praz,
this is the result:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>winsat disk -drive g

> Wird ausgeführt: Speicherbewertung '-drive g -ran -read'

> Laufzeit 00:00:06.59
> Wird ausgeführt: Speicherbewertung '-drive g -seq -write'
> Laufzeit 00:00:03.77
> Wird ausgeführt: Speicherbewertung '-drive g -flush -seq'

How does this help?

Hello

Based on the results of post #8 the drive should now be detected as a SSD. If not this is a Windows issue you will need to sort out.

Praz,
now things are even worse! All my HDDs are now detected as SSD drives and my Raidr is still detected as HDD! How can I revert this?

Hello

You have some type of operating system issue. Random read performance is the metric used to designate a drive as a SSD. The performance minimum is set approximately 4 times higher than the average conventional hard drive is capable of. So with a properly functioning install of Windows it is not possible for a conventional drive to be marked as a SSD.

Could the reason be that my HDD is actually a hybrid drive with SSD cache? Anyway, how can I tell the OS, what drive is an HDD and what is a SSD?

No moe idea?
