Hi all,

I have a question about screen replacement. If I was to get hold of a full hd ips 17.3 inch screen from the G751, would the mounting bracket of the G750 accept it and would the screen quality be much of an improvement.

Thanks.

Looks like others are interested and its now possible to get this screen online. I just need to find out about the connector.

More research is needed

The panel part number is AUO B173HW02 V1 (http://www.panelook.com/B173HW02%20V1_AUO_17.3_LCM_overview_17335.html) (antiglare surface, wider viewing angles, lower contrast ratio) or AUO B173HW02 V0 (http://www.panelook.com/B173HW02%20V0_AUO_17.3_LCM_overview_15837.html) (glossy surface, narrower viewing angles, higher contrast ratio). The LVDS connector/cable assembly is part number JAE HD1S040HA1.

The G750 and G751 use the same panels, their physical dimensions and signal EDIDs are compatible. (The AUO B173HW01 panel parts, V0 through V4, are now all discontinued.)

There are no longer any 17.3" IPS-type panels in production.

You can source these parts through places like Alibaba, eBay, and Amazon. Or just buy a complete "Grade A+" unit (Matte or Glossy) for probably lower total cost through a vendor like this (https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/screen-part-number/B173HW02~V.1/).

LCD panel grades are basically: A = good (basically flawless), B = okay (minor flaws), C = fair (it works), D = poor (yeah, good luck with that), often qualified through some +/- subgrades. There is no industry standard, each panel maker and each panel vendor invents its own particular grading system. But a "Grade A+" or "Grade A+++" screen is about as close to perfect as you can buy. (It's easy to buy single panel replacements of handpicked best grade, for maybe a couple dollars more, because vendors typically grade out large bulk orders.)

Sorry but you can't use a G751 panel in your G750, the G750 use LVDS 40 pin connector and the G751 use eDP 30 pin connector.

Maybe it will work on the G750 3D version, this have the 30 pin connector enabled.
Good luck
