I bought a cooling pad for my g750. It does nothing as far as i can tell. I ran PRIME95 (http://www.mersenne.org/) to put a full load on my cpu. It raised the temperature to over 75 Celcius and increased fan speed to 3500 rpm in under one minute - with or without the cooling pad running.. in other words, the cooling pad didnt seem to have any effect on the temp or fan speed.

Have you any experience with cooling pads?

Any thoughts?

Hi! There is no need to use cooling ads with G series laptops! The cooling system is rely good! If it start's to overheat the best thing is to undust it and change thermal compound.

GoAsusGo!, the best thing I can say for a cooler is that it keeps the spot open on the desk for your laptop :)

And, it provides a nice stable surface up and away from other things so that the bottom vents can take in plenty of cool air for cooling. Angle correctly away from walls or other obstructions it keeps the hot exhaust air away from the intake air.

As far as actually helping with cooling, it doesn't seem to make much difference if you already had a nice open surface for air intake available.

The other features, like USB ports, speakers, etc are nice unto themselves.

The only thing I found annoying was I couldn't take it with me, so I bought another for my work spot for my personal laptop - in the places that allow such personal electronics.

I don't use one any longer, at home or work, but I can see finding one I like again and trying one out.

There are more featured models, but that one looks good :)

Hi! The cooling pad surfaces are flat the same as the desk surface! Feet's of g750 are high enough to let normal air circulation under laptop. The cooling system in g750 is designed for good air intake and it's hard to block it also as cooling pad will stream air flow directly to the back cover of laptop it can even interrupt designed air intake and make bad circulation. I tried my self earlier several cooling pads one of them was cooler master note pal u3 but it effect was exactly same as without it! The better effect in some laptops was to put something like match boxes under back feet's but not in G series laptops. Also I have no idea why to put a cooler under something cool enough. If there is overheat it's much better to search a hardware problem like thermal compound or clean dust before it's too late!

i noticed the cooling pad fans ran faster with the cooling pad raised off the desk. so i propped it up 1 inch off the desk. i also noticed the cooling pads fan ran faster with the laptop not sitting directly on the cooling pad.. so i propped the laptop up one inch as well .. it looks like a 4 layer sandwich now.. or a cake.

i ran prime95 longer this time.. until temp reached 80 Celcius and fan speed 3800 rpm - but with and without the cooling pad, it made no difference.

so, im returning it.

I can tell one more thing. When I was cleaning my laptops I find that there is plenty of dust under the hinge cover where speakers are so there is also air intake from there I think that was made for those users who like to use their laptops on the knees or on soft surface like bed or something.

yeah, i found a lot of dust balls here.

i should put a filter over the speaker grill.

not sure it would fit though.

kinda tight

GoAsusGo!, thanks for the observations, they are helpful :)

As I said the advantages of the cooling pads aren't limited to cooling, as it doesn't help the G750's much.

G751's might get helped as they aren't sealed the same as the G750, but we really haven't gotten many details from people with G751's with cooling pads.

My W90Vp-X2 was helped by a cooling pad, as were previous laptops, but the G750's just don't need it.

It's something that most people need to find out for themselves, it's worth the effort to know for sure :)

Don't put any filters there!!! You will block air circulation or make it more tight!!! So your coollers will go on highest speeds and can worn out faster then they should! Don't forget to check it once in several month and you'll be fine!
I check my laptops every 4 - 6 month and cleaning them. P.S. Good thing is to clean your room regular and it will be better for you and your laptop))

G750 series doesn't need cooling pad. They already have good cooling system. Just use bottle caps to lift the back side of the laptop so that there is enough room for air intake.
