I have just purchased a Asus G751JT with the 128ssd & 1tb hd.

The ssd is a Sandisk, if I were to buy a Crucial mx200 500gb hd would there be a speed increase and is getting the os to the new drive easy?

Or can you recommend a better ssd.

Also is this voiding the warranty?

Well first you would need to know if your 128 SSD is M.2 or SATA? If SATA then Samsung seem to be top dog for quite awhile now and 256 GB seems to be the sweet spot. Since you only have one SATA 3 6GB ports a 500 GB SSD might be better give you a 2nd partition for Programs and current in use data. Should your 128 SSD Be M.2 PCIe I would defer to someone else and there are issues with changing these out.

Cloning your SSD to a new SSD is easy Macrium Reflect Free works great.

However I should inform you that you need to download Asus Backtracker (http://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1008640/)and create a USB thumb drive for your Restore to factory Condition media. You'll need this as a back up incase something goes south on you or you want to sell later on down the line. This link takes you too FAQ and a link to download the latest version.
