I've just installed new

BIOS 207
Support Nvidia G-sync function.

from http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=G751JY&p=3&s=719

But I can't see G-SYNC option available in nVidia control panel (drivers 350.12)... How can I activate it?

Here is an example how nVidia panel should look like with G-SYNC detected:

We need to wait for a new nvidia gsync enabled laptop driver... Hopefully nvidia will release one soon...

Yes you need to wait for new drivers or use the leaked alpha drivers.
I just noticed that on asus drivers site they released a new GPU driver V9.18.13.4801 (2015.05.11 update) give that a try and see if that enabled Gsync

None related: I also see a new ATK update

Jesus... 405MB of drivers... downloading and testing with new BIOS 207, stay tuned...

EDIT:
SOB! They are just 348.01 (older than official 350.12) and no G-SYNC options available after install.

Just be patient. When there will be G-Sync enabled drivers available, NVidia will make sure that we hear about their release. Until then, neither ASUS nor Gamenab can't come up with anything .

The question is: will nVidia ever release a notebook driver with G-SYNC?

TeMagic
05-11-2015, 09:26 PM
Yes, they will. That is where their development is at current. There is already a leaked alpha driver and drivers have been sent to manufacturers for testing and now we have a new BIOS which improves I suppose on the G-sync capabilities, so of course there will... We just have to be patient that's all...

Will G-Sync work with the 970m? I looked on NVIDIA's site for supported GPU's and none of the mobile GPU's were listed.

there's a new 352.63 driver released if you are on windows ten now. it is supposedly able to run gsync. but i don't know for sure.

I did read an article on NVIdias forum where it said that the whole mobile range of GPUs are being "in development" but I don't seem to be able to find it again. One thing is sure, they are working on a driver with enabled G-Sync and we will maybe see it quite soon. I'm relying on this ASUS release of Bios 207 which makes me think that they have already received a sample for testing.

But they are indeed for Win 10 and cause many issues on Win 8.1 ATM.
Ok, we have to wait for a new WHQL mobile driver with G-SYNC from nVidia...

Well if it doesnt, then this whole gsync thing can go in the trash.
A 100% fix is not possible with just software modification, however a fix that is 90% as good is possible.

i did....
G751JY - i7 4860/980m
BIOS ver 207
Win 8.1 64bit

Downloaded 352.63 nvidia mobile driver (it is a driver for win 10 preview with dx12 support...), then modded inf file as instructed.
Instalation process went smoothly BUT:
- can't change brightness via keyboard fn
- also choppy experience what ever trying to do
- geforce experience won't even start
- nvidia panel won't start -> so no way to check for g-sync

Some1 tried it on win 10 (10072ver)?

352.86 Drivers

The bad: No G-Sync as of yet.
The good: Panorama (5,760x1080) supported, fully functional. G751JY connected to 3 monitors (27") for super wide video gaming. Sweet!!!

Bios 207 just says "Update EC firmware" for me in the description of changes. Where are you guys seeing this G-SYNC information?

Also, 353.00 are out now which have DSR enabled!!!

they've changed the discription 2 days after the 207 bios was out, I know becouse I installed it the same day it was out (discription said then: "Support for Nvidia G-Sync function" - nth about EC firmware).
probably just some mistake... guess the feature is coming, just not yet

Nvidia is starting to piss me off with this nonsence.

We know that the g751jy is g-sync capable, so get this in the driver already!

We have a very good IPS monitor capable of OC to 100Hz, so give us G-sync allready!

here men !! ;)

here is good news for all of us
gsync is coming to G751
http://www.pcgamer.com/g-sync-coming-to-gaming-laptops-also-updated-to-support-windowed-mode/

and New Driver
http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/85819/en-us

when we can play with g-sync with an modified driver, why not with original driver ? nvidia pls thats not so heavy for you ! ; )

Gaming Technology
Supports G-SYNC technology in windowed mode, offers both G-SYNC (V-SYNC on) and G-SYNC (V-SYNC off) options, support for Ultra-Low Motion Blur (ULMB) in the NVIDIA Control Panel, provides Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR) for notebooks with discrete GeForce GPUs, and optimizations and bug fixes which can provide increased performance for Kepler-based GPUs.

I thought it could have been the right one this time, but as I tested not even 353.06 + BIOS 207 bring us G-SYNC :(
Don't know what nVidia was talking about in the description since I can't see G-SYNC options anywhere... maybe it's just buggy (any hotfix?)...

Hello there, NVIDIA. I've bought a notebook Asus ROG G751JY last month and now you announced that the models with Geforce GTX 980m will have G-Sync support. I would like to know if my model will support that technology. I know that G-Sync works unofficially with an alpha drivers released in January and I know that my notebook display works at 75Hz (and can go up to 100Hz), but I rather use an official driver.
Thanks.

You need to ask ASUS about that: https://rog.asus.com/forum/for..."

It seems the problem is on ASUS hands I guess.

Let's keep that petition on.

I know it's a bit off topic, but I was curious if anyone noticed the "smart charge" feature not working after updating bios to 207. Prior to updating I happened to notice battery charge while plugged in said 98% (plugged in, not charging). However now it always says charging unless it's at 100% and then just says Fully Charged.

207 here not seeing that behavior 96% not charging... you probably just caught it after topping the battery off.

odd, does anyone know if there's a setting somewhere to enable/disable the feature. I'll keep watching it to see if it goes back normal.

I just bought a G751JY today to replace my G750JH that was stolen last week and have been setting it up. I have the latest 207 Bios and latest Nvidia drivers but no G-Sync. However I have found that no specific monitor drivers are installed and is registering as a generic PnP monitor which I believe is where the problem lies.

current sold models don't support Gsync. Does your laptop say it comes with Gsync?

Noticed the same... who knows... we can only wait (maybe ASUS has crafted custom monitor drivers in the "new" models? No special BIOS or nVidia drivers required...?)

If G-Sync already works with that beta driver leaked on internet with the old G751JY models, why not go with an oficial driver from Asus?

Nope. Nothing/nada. I noticed the g751JT has a different BIOS(?); BIOS 208
Support G-sync function for CPU i7-4850HQ, i7-4750HQ. Before: BIOS 207
support Nvidia G-sync function only on G-sync SKU
It appears adjustments have to be made for different processors? Since I have a g751JY with an i7-4860 I gues there is still hope....I hope
