It's probably a failing hard drive or spyware.

To test your hard drive

Download HD Sentinel Portable

When it's finished downloading right click the file and extract it. Then go into the extracted folder and run HDSentinel (shown on the upper right part of my screen).

This will instantly tell you the status of all of your storage devices. It will warn you if your hard drive is going bad.

For spyware download malwarebytes, install it and do a full scan. You will be able to remove any infections found once the scan completes.

If your laptop freezes when trying to do this try to run safe mode by pressing f8 continuously on startup. It will give you the option to start safemode or safemode with networking. If you need to download these programs select safe mode with networking. You will need a hard wired LAN connection if using safemode.

We'll deal with the temperature issues after we find out if it's the hard drive.

Let us know what you find.
