So perhaps in combination with heat and an apparent period of strain, the screws bolting the hinge to the base of my laptop have stripped the screw holes. So, yeah! My lid is only attached by the wires with 0 support. I am wondering how I fix this. I have looked into hinge replacement parts but the hinges themselves are fine; it's the metal plate they get bolted to that is broken. Does that plate have a name? Or you, advice in how to go about finding parts/fixing this?

I kind of feel like just the plate would be pointless if there were rivets beneath the screw holes to hold the screw.

Looking into this issue on a HP laptop.
The options are inventive yet extreme..

But drilling a whole rite through and attaching bolts would be my first choice.
