Hello all, I have a problem with my Asus UL80Vt notebook. I am experiencing extremely slow transfer speeds when attempting to move files from my notebook to my Western Digital external hard drive that has USB 2.0 and 3.0 capabilities. Average transfer speeds are 1.0 MB/s. A 2.0 GB file takes around 25 minutes to transfer. I have no idea why this is happening. I have tested the hard drive on my cousin's HP laptop, and my dad's Asus UL30V notebook. On both laptops average transfer speeds were 25-30 MB/s for the same file, as well as other files. Can anyone help me with this problem? I's quite frustrated. Here are some specifications: Asus UL80VT notebook, purchased in Feb 2010. Windows 7 64 bit, Intel core duo processor, 4.0 GB ram, Device manager says it has Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 293C. Thanks for your help.

Perhaps your antivirus is checking during the transfer and that is making it slow.

Is this a compressed file with many files within?

No the files are not compressed. They're mostly movies, music, and pictures.

I uninstalled AVG free and avast! free but still have the problem.
