I'm running into a weird problem I'm having trouble pinning down. Every now and then when I power on my system, during boot the graphics will have a weird green corruption around the ASUS logo like the screen or graphics card is messed up. It'll persist for quite a while then as randomly as it came it goes away after a few hours. I was planning on bringing it to the store I got it from to have it checked out but before I brought it in, the damn thing stopped doing it. It didn't pop up till a week later when I turned on the laptop to update a game client for the weekend.

I tried the latest Nvidia drivers both official and beta and the bios is up to date (205).
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated... this is driving me nuts.

You didn't actually mention what model it is, and it's a bit hard to tell from the image, since the laptops look so similar. Is it a G73SW?

Oh good grief! sorry about that. I must have deleted the part that had it. Its a G73JW so its the Nvidia GeForce GTX460M.

Well, its not a driver...

Have you tried tapping the lid and/or the main body of the nb to see if there's any change, flickering etc.?

I'm thinking loose connection to the LCD. It can only be hardware or firmware related since it happens before Windows even loads.

Yeah, the damn thing went back to normal when I had moved my laptop so I could get at the serial number before I was about to call ASUS. Of course the minute I put the laptop in the upright position and turned it back on, it's working fine. I might need to look up the information on dis assembly or take it in for service the next chance I get.
