The latest G74 BIOS is v. 203. It's linked on the Drivers thread.

Just a heads up...if you're gonna flash 203 into your G74, be sure and do it through EasyFlash in the BIOS itself...don't ever flash a BIOS from Windows. Thats just asking for it, IMHO, especially since there is no Dual BIOS in the G74 to get you out of an RMA if things fail.

Look in my Drivers... sticky for instructions

It's actually quite easy. Maybe a bit tense while you hold your breath while praying that your computer will still start afterwards, but easy. >_>

Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine. FAT32 USB, flash through BIOS.

+1 for encouraging a nub :)

Look in my Drivers... sticky for instructionsIs there a reason you recommend using a flash drive? Easyflash can flash files directly from the hard drive, which would simplify things versus using a flash drive. That's how I updated from 201. I didn't have any issues this way.

Yes, because flashing from an ntfs partition has bricked many a G-series notebook. Its easier to use a fat32 flash drive than to create a small fat32 partition on your hdd.

We wouldn't take so much effort to suggest this if there was no reason. :D

You did! Phew . . . . :p

I updated from 201 to 202 a couple of weeks ago using WinFlash, very easy and smooth. Does that mean it was all wrong?

No, but the odds of flashing success are better if you use EasyFlash in the BIOS and place the BIOS file on a flash drive formatted as FAT32. See http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/174395-bios-update-guide-asus-notebooks.html for details.
