Hi,

I bought my G55VW mid 2012 it came with Win7, but now Im thinking to do a clean install of Windows 8, there's any tutorial on how to perform it?
I'm new into Notebook stuff, this was my first.

Thanks!

Here take you pick on Step x Step Tutorial http://www.eightforums.com/gtsearch.php?cx=partner-pub-7156303416008077%3A205v6qk06j2&cof=FORID%3A9&ie=UTF-8&q=HOw+to+install+UEFI+tutioral&siteurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.eightforums.com%2F

If your notebook came with windows 7 did you get your free upgrade to 8 Pro? if so be sure to use it.
You would get you ISO from here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media

Asus support download (http://support.asus.com/download/options.aspx?SLanguage=en&type=1) Get your latest drivers for Windows 8.1 Be sure to download them and have the ready to go. you'll want to install the Chipset driver and ATK driver right way.

If you don't have your free 8 Pro key and you'll have to buy one you'll be better off waiting to the end of the month and get your window 10 for free.

Hi,

Thanks for the info, Ill check asap if my version is ugpradable to windows 8, I know that I already reserved my windows 10, but ill have to wait asus support it :/

Also, It's just create a usb bootable with 8.0 and format/install?

I didn't quite understood the fist link, it's a UEFI bootable tutorial then -> install from usb media then -> windows 8 clean install tutorial, that's correct?

Thanks again

When you bought your notebook with windows 7 summer and fall of 2012 we all get a free upgrade to Win 8 Pro you had to have filed for it to get the product key if you failed to get it its too late. I think you would have had to pay $9.99 for the 8 Pro Key. I think the offer was good for a year.
I linked you to the 8 forum they have several step x step tutorial on installing window 8.1, how to install it UEFI, every thing about window 8.1 is there. I am not going to retype a step by step when they are already there.

UEFI bootable will create a UEFI/GPT Install yes that is all there in the tutorials. Your notebook came set up UEFI/GPT unless you have change the original install it wil still be UEFI. You should take out your 2nd drive leave in only the SSD or Hard drive you will install windows 8.1 on. The only other thing you might need to know is that on boot up with your USB Install media you should hit the Esc key that will bring up a Boot menu from there you will select your UEFT USB. If you get the message that this version can't be installed on this partition. then someone has converted your notebook to BIOS/ MBR. The fix for this is to hit the shift F10 this will bring up an elevated CMD prompt.
Type in the prompt
Diskpart
List disk
select disk 0
clean
convert GPT
exit and continue installing windows 8.1
