View Full Version : Memory Interface ? is that the bus ?

ok guys im a noob when it comes to hardware but i was reading my nvidia system infomation and it said "Memory Interface: 192-bit" so is the 192 better then the 128? i hope i got the right GPU i have the gtx 560m and everybody says the gtx 460 128-bit is better then the other 560 model and i was abit confused thanks.

in this page you can see the gtx460m is about 10% slower than the gtx560m.
the gtx460m in SLI is faster 12% than the gtx560m

Each VRAM bank has a 64 bit wide interface where 64 bits is the number of binary digits the card reads for every line of machine code. All other things being equal 192 is preferred, but there are other bottlenecks in today's cards (e.g. PCIe bus bandwidths) that effectively diminish the higher bandwidth that 192 bits provides. In other words, very little diff b/t 128 and 192 bit speedsfor equal GPU/Memory clocks.
