I downloaded the windows 10 update,
through windows update,
which took 1.3 hours,
when it prepared to install,
it failed with an error code.

So i restarted the computer.
Windows downloaded the windows 10 update AGAIN
so i waited another 1.3 hours.
but it failed to install.

So i deleted everything in
c:/windows/softwaredistribution/downlaods/
i downloaded the windows 10 update, AGAIN
and it failed with error code.

So i played around with msconfig,
rebooted in clean mode,
downloaded the update, AGAIN
and it failed to install with an error code.

So i contacted MS support,
they wanted to take control of my computer,
i said hell no. i asked how could i at least save the update,
so i wouldnt have to keep downloading it.
so they turned me onto the media creation tool,
which i downloaded, which in turn downloaded the iso
but when it tried to verify the iso,
it failed with an error code.
so no iso was saved to my computer (that i could see).

so i contacted ms support,
they took controle of my computer,
they did a few things in msconfig,
and ran a few reg edit commands,
then tried to download the update
through windows update,
but failed to install.

So i went to another computer,
downloaded the media creation tool,
which in turn downloaded the iso,
but verification failed and so no iso was saved (that i could see).

so i went to yet another computer,
downloaded the media creation tool,
which in turn downloaded the iso,
and this time it worked!!!
so i bruned the iso to a dvd,
ran it on my asus,
started the installation
but it failed.

i played with msconfig,
ran the dvd, and it failed.

i booted from the dvd,
it started to install,
but failed.

i played with msconfig again,
but this time i turned off ALL the services,
*** including the Microsoft Services ***
and disabled all the startup apps
and ran the installer...

.AND IT WORKED.

Nice "guide" and story, but where is what I want to know: what exactly did you do? Because you give no details, just general info.

you read everywhere about how to do a "clean boot",
go into msconfig, disable startup items,
and uncheck all the services, except ms services,
then reboot -- but i still wasnt able to install windows 10.
So i took a chance and also disabled the <<ms services>> as well,
and then windows 10 was able to install without any errors!!
