View Full Version : Win 8 Corrupted - Can I Get it from ASUS?

I have a g75 I bought a couple of years ago. Win 8 became corrupted. I tried everything and it just didn't work. Unfortunately, my Acronis backup was also corrupted and did not work.

Is there a way to get Windows 8 from ASUS, since technically I did pay for it?

Get you install media or ISO here straight from Microsoft http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media
You get more information is you post in the older notebooks forum http://rog.asus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?114-Older-G-Series-Notebooks
You will find your hardware drivers Asus Support Downloads (http://support.asus.com/download/options.aspx?SLanguage=en&type=1)
ATK is very important Utility Chipset IRST IME Audio, should all be downloaded and ready to install. If you need guidance check out these Tutorials on the eight forum (http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/?filter[2]=Installation%20and%20Setup) If you have a SSD you will want to install UEFI all the G75 came set up in UEFI. With spinner hard drives its up to you how you install. If you want to use Safe Boot you'll have to install UEFI
BIOS MBR is considered legacy mode. If your notebook came with windows 8 installed you won't need a product key to install as long as you download the Win 8.1 Core 64 bit and install UEFI it will automatically activate using the key embedded on your motherboard. if it was upgraded to 8 you will need a win 8 or 8.1 product Key. You may need a generic key to get win 8.1 to start the install
Windows 8.1 Single Language Y9NXP-XT8MV-PT9TG-97CT3-9D6TC
Windows 8.1 Core 334NH-RXG76-64THK-C7CKG-D3VPT
these key are legit however they will only allow install they will not Activate!!!!!
The eightforum I linked you too has a program called "Show Key" search in on that forum and it will show you all the product keys installed on your notebook and tell you which are for what If the best product key I know of works every time. So if you need to use the generic Key to install then you'll activate with the Product key Show Key found for you. You can use it after you install during the trial period If you have a embedded Key it will find it. If it was updated there was a key used to upgrade win 7 HP 64 bit to window 8 core 64Bit you'll need that key to clean install and activate.

Ok. So once I do that and install it, Microsoft will recognize that it's a legal, registered version of Win 8 for my G75?
