View Full Version : Clean Windows 10 Sucks for G75VW

ok, struggling for a week now, and going back to 8.1

When I do a Clean install for Windows 10, I run into the following problems.

1. Starting the laptop, turns it off again.. Always need to press the power button 2 x. (and no, it's not in some save mode)
2. The Font/screen sux... it's burning the hell out of my eyes for some reason.
3. Chipset Drivers won't install. (Even the new ones??) Win 8 chipset drivers will work, but still have 1 SATA left over?
4. Sound seems to be fine, but even with the new VIA drivers, I get no 5.1 under my properties. (not a big issue for me)
5. Lost speed between transferring to USB Drive..

When I upgraded from 8.1 to 10 everything was fine... but wanted a clean install, so that's what I did, and I cannot get number 2 to work properly... changed drivers / brightness / contrast etc etc etc... but no luck..

Anyone else has good results with a CLEAN install ???

Figure this out with Windows 7 years ago. Paul Thurrott save me the trouble of writing it out.

First you need to know the tricks for installing Windows 7, 8 and 10 on older system. Read this Windows 10 instructions. (https://www.thurrott.com/windows/windows-10/4940/windows-10-tip-successfully-clean-install-windows-10) Leave the older Windows installed on the system. Make sure you are connected to the internet. Run the setup.exe from within Windows. If you don't have a flash drive you can mount the .ios file using daemon tools lite. Now read this forum for Windows 10 fixes.

When I attempt the clean install, it asks for USB device drivers to continue...I have no Idea were to start. There are so many drivers for USB that I do not have time for trial and error. Anyone else have this issue?

Not really USB, drivers are all native in windows 8 and up. If you USB Install media is made correctly and when you start your notebook hit the Esc key this will bring up a boot menu from that menu you would select UEFI USB what ever yours is. You do realize that USB 3.0 won't be support in your BIOS your USB needs to be USB 2.0 formatted Fat32. If your USB is a 3.0 one the BIOS would ask for a driver to run the exe from.
you should create you install USB from here http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 the the tool create your USB Install Media.
