Hello fellow ROGs!

I have had my laptop for couple of months now and i feel like it needs some sort of cleaning from dust and other unwanted slag. From what I can see, this has been discussed before (https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?58009-How-do-I-clean-my-g751jy-laptop-Dust-ets) but I would love it if someone who has tried these methods (or any other method for that matter), could share what they did and if/how it affected the laptops performance etc. Also, if there is anything else to do so that these machines keep operating at an optimal level, please tell!

Thankful for answers!

If you keep your house dust free for example if you vacuum/clean once a week I doubt there is much dust to get clogged inside of the notebook. From what I feel it actually intakes air from the keyboard, ports and a bit from the bottom( you can feel the air flow when you put your hands on a port) and it exhaust from behind so it doesn't suck in a lot of dust. But if you are insistent on cleaning it the reasonable answer would be give it to ASUS though I'm not sure if they will do it for you (depending on country, warranty e.t.c.) and also not sure how long it would take.People use cans of compressed air or even vacuum cleaners but hey probably the best solution is keeping your home clean as much as you can and cleaning the outside with alcohol (isopropyl) works like a charm, screen with a damp cleaning cloth and try shutting it down when you go to sleep and closing the lid as stupid as it sounds..damn thing boots up in 2 seconds anyway

Distilled water microfiber cloth and a can of air is all you need. Smart water is distilled if you dont want to buy a larger container at the grocery store.

Do not use alcohol if you dont need to alcohol leaches plasticizers which can cause the rubber skin of the g751 to shrink up and plastic to crack over time. We have over 30 laptops at work with heavy use and have never needed to suse anything besides distilled water and a microfiber cloth.

Never thought about the effects of alcohol on the soft touch plastic. That's a good point you make but it is so darn hard to clean with water.Guess patience is key.

We have over 30 g751s at the office under very heavy use with very messy users and have not had anything that could not come up with a little water and rubbing. Now there are times when you might have to use alcohol like prepping a surface for new thermal paste or removing adhesives but why do it if you dont have to. You can always get a vinyl skin for $25 on aliexpress or $30 for a custom one

Heres some custom skins they have done for g751s. They protect everything and are removable later on if you want.

Its a textured vinyl it feels rubbery and textured like the g751 does. You need to message them for the custom ones and send them a picture its 30 for custom. They do everything else.
