I'm looking for a 17'" laptop, and would like to put my OS on an SSD for speed, and have my data on two drives in a Raid1 for safety. Also, I really like Asus. Do any Asus 17" laptops have room for 2 2.5" drives, AND an SSD, while keeping the Optical drive?

Thanks!

Over mine G751JY, removed the BlueRay combo and replaced by a HDD caddy, actually have 1 PCIe SSD Samsung, 1 SSD 850 Pro, 1 SSD 840 Pro and 1 HDD 1Tb, so, it's quite possible :)

That is a terrible way to install a pcie your going to snap the connector over time with the stress your putting on it or vibrations will short it out. Please dont anyone else make that mistake. The pcie needs to be mounted in some form and you can fit the 850 under it naked with a 3d bracket. Please see the thread here for proper installs with a 2.5 drive.

Yes it is possible. My G771JM has m.2 ssd (xp941 256GB) + 2 HDD bays (850 Evo 256 GB + 1GB hdd) and optical drive. I dont use raid but i guess you can do that. For backup i have "WD my cloud". As for nootebook itself, its excellent. I use it as desktop replacement (with external monitor) for cad and 3d.

Oh, and you can game very well on it :D
